Macbook Pro Boot Camp Win10 External Monitor Not Working After Sleep

I am using a Macbook Pro Boot Camp for Windows 10, with an HDMI cable connected from the USB‑C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to an external monitor.

Each time I wake up from Windows sleep mode, the external monitor no longer displays and detects the connected monitor. The only way to fix this is to do a windows restart in order to get the Macbook pro to detect the external monitor and send a signal.

Once in a blue moon, awaking from sleep, it will detect the monitor and display correctly when I remove the multiport adapter during sleep mode and re-insert prior to awakening from sleep mode. Not sure why this is the case but I've tried multiple times to re-create this scenario but cannot do so repeatedly and consistently.

Looking for help on what the root issue is to fix this.

Thanks,

- Rob
