Dads Apple Watch

I have an apple watch that belonged to my father whom is deceased. I have reset the watch but it will not let me pair it with my iphone. How can I get this accomplished?

Apple watch reset I have a relative who spent a long time in hospital (many months). He had an apple watch which was linked to his old phone. He then replaced his phone (but didn’t unpair/detach the apple-watch from this old phone before factory resetting and selling it). He has tried resetting the apple watch and linking to his phone/apple account but he is struggling. Instructions seem to take us into a loop cycle which includes needing his old phone. Is there a clear, easy way of resetting the watch and linking back with his apple account but not his old phone (there is no data on the watch that he needs)? He is out of hospital now and the watch might help him recuperate and provide a motivational boost. Thank you very much for your help.

Apple Watch SE My mother gave me her Apple Watch but I’m having a hard time pairing the watch to my phone. Can I erase her if etc and log myself on and pair it to my phone?

It can’t be paired with you iPhone because the Apple Watch is already associated with his Apple ID.

The only way you may be able to use this Apple Watch is to take it to an Apple Store along with a certified copy of your dad’s death certificate.

To pair the Apple Watch to your phone you need to unpair it from your Dad’s phone (on the Watch app) first, then you will be able to pair it (be aware that you have to erase the data and reset to be able to use it with your phone).
