Trying to figure out how to make a round or oval border around an image in 'pages.' None of the "suggestions" in the HELP section were helpful...or even addressed my specific question. I recall in my old WORD program the process was available in the tool bar. Not available in PAGES.

Menu > Format > Image > Mask with Shape > Oval
…and you can save yourself the bother of repeatedly going to the menu by creating the shapes you want and dragging the image onto them from Finder or a web browser.

I have Pages 5.6. It came with my new MacMini. Right now I have an image on a blank page that I want to make oval. Am I dense, or just not seeing the obvious? Nowhere do I see either Menu>Format>Image>Mask with shape or Add images, shapes, and media>Images>Mask (crop) a photo. See screen cap below.
I can click on 'Shape' and find a circle and manipulate it into an oval, but I can't figure out how to apply that shape to the photo. This is frustrating.

Menus in MacOS are always at the top of the screen.
it sounds like your “new” Mac mini is second hand. Pages is at v7.1

What version of Pages are you talking about on what OS?
Any shape can contain an image, just drag the image onto the shape.
Any shape can have whatever border you want.
You also can apply a shape to an existing image:
Menu > Format > Image > Mask with Shape >
In Pages 7 Help this is in:
Add images, shapes, and media > Images > Mask (crop) a photo
