OSX: Turn auto brightness completely off

Hi,

How do I completely turn off auto dimming/brightness? I already deselected the options in settings > display > 'automatically adjust brightness' and settings > energy saver > 'slightly dim the display while on battery power'.

It still is correcting the brightness to my ambient light. It's very annoying at the moment since I'm trying to read a long paper, so I'd rather have it turned off.

Am I missing an option somewhere?

I'm on a MacBook Pro 13" Retina 2017 (with touch bar and usb-c ports), with OSX High Sierra 10.13.6.
