want to change my keychain login

I want to change my keychain login in MacOS High Sierra [iMac -27-inch, Late 2013-10.13.6 (17G65)-3.2 GHz Intel Core i5-8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3] so I am not asked for my user password every time I look for a password. The choice "Change password for keychain login" is grayed out whether I have any of the items on the left of Keychain Access under 'Keychain' or 'Category' selected. Thanks for any help you can give.

OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Via Apple's Instructions you just need to do these steps:

  1. Open Keychain Access, which is in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder.
  2. From the Keychain Access menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Click General, then click Reset My Default Keychain.
  4. Authenticate with your account login password.

When you open keychain access through spotlight , click on login in the keychain access side bar .

Take cursor on top menu bar > edit > change password for keychain login is greyed by default .

In users and groups if you open the lock by authenticating the password for admin , click on login options , you have selected display login window as name and password and keep automatic login as off , rest of the boxes are unchecked ( its optional ) so when you restart the Mac every time the admin name and password will be shown , there is no need of entering keychain access preferences and clicking on reset my default keychain , unless your login keychain and iCloud Keychain get corrupted .
