Dual SIM on iPhone Xs Max

So, looks like both the Xs and the Xs Max come with dual SIM
capability albeit via a combination of a nano-SIM and an eSIM (works via a
software update). At the same time it’s been announced that since the eSIM does
not work in China, HK and Macau – the dual SIM functionality (at least on Xs Max)
will work via two physical nano-SIM cards inserted into the SIM tray (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209086)
It is unclear however, whether Xs Max models sold in other markets (UK, EU, US,
etc.) will have the dual SIM tray?

Does anyone know anything about it? For those of us (outside
of China) who do not want to use eSIM (not all carriers support it) will the Xs
Max sold in those markets feature a functioning dual nano-SIM tray? Thanks

Only the models for China, Hong Kong and Macu will have the dual physical sim tray.

Xs and Max models for all other countries will have the 1 physical sim, and the secondary eSIM whether there are supported carriers in the country or not.

In theory, if its unlocked, it should work with a sim card from any carrier, including a UK carrier.

I believe so for China version. But don't think the Hong Kong Version would have the same restrictions? Any idea?

Hong Kong is part of China and is governed by the central government of the People’s Republic.

I use Verizon as my primary carrier in the US and would like to use the dual sim capability to use it on Telcel in Mexico. If I use an eSim with Verizon, can I use the physical slot for Telcel?

The downside is phones sold for the China market have some features disabled as required by the government of the PRC. You will not be able to use these features anywhere.
