AirPort Express wifi keeps dropping

Hi there. I have an Airport Time Capsule and three Airport Expresses to bounce the signal round our house. Everything works fine for months, but then one of them (the furthest away) suddenly starts dropping out all the time - requiring everything to be turned off and turned back on again. The green light still shows on the Airport Express and on Airport Utilities on my iMac (which is hardwired to the Time Capsule) - but there is just no wifi signal coming from the Express. Any advice on how to fix? Don't know whether it is getting interference from somewhere - and I have read about changing channels (everything is on Auto at the moment) - but I am completely stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What model is the TC and the express?

The express can get themselves in a knot if the signal from one Express is greater than the TC in the location you are having issues with..

I suggest you do some swapping around.. reset the express to factory and move it to a different location.. and swap the one there to the location that has issues.. does the fault move or stay in the same place??

It can be difficult to figure out.. and you will need to do a proper wireless survey to check signal levels in each location..

If you have a macbook of some sort you can use the wireless diagnostics built into Mac OS.. or if you have iphone ipad you can use wifi scan which is part of the airport utility for iOS.

Take readings in each location and tell me how it is??

Thanks for your reply. The problem has gone away for now - I was looking at the settings for each Express using the Airport Utility on my iMac - and noticed that one of them (not the one with the problem) had guest network ticked. I unticked it and as it went offline to update the problem Express sprung into life and was giving a full signal. It has stayed Ok once the other Express returned onto the network. I am not convinced I have really solved the issue as I have managed to kick start it into action before only for the signal to fall over again days or weeks later.

When you say you can use the wifi scan on an iPhone what do you mean? My wireless printer in the study - the farthest point from my Time Machine - has wireless diagnostics with signal strengths to each base - although I can't make sense of it as it identifies each by a BSSID code which I can't seem to find anywhere else to identify which Express they are. Some also say they are on different channels - although all are set to auto. Fingers crossed it doesn't fall over again - but I am not hopeful.
