MacBook Pro 15" (2018) Keyboard "t" key repeating issue?

I bought a new MacBook Pro 15" (2018) last week and have been absolutely loving the computer. As an academic, I do a ton of typing and have actually found the keyboard quite enjoyable to the touch.

Recently however I noticed a strange issue popping up infrequently where it feels like the "t" key on my keyboard will repeat when pressed. That means certain words "tthat normally dontt have multtiple" t's appear like so while typing. At first I thought maybe I was pressing the keys incorrectly, or subtly too quickly since I do type quite fast, which led me to testing out different key press pressures and angles. I find that if I slightly press the 't' key on its left side edges, or if I roll my finger over it, it will duplicate the tt issue.

I know this was one of the many keyboard issues that plague the 2017 MacBook Pro + TouchBar models but I thought surely this could not be the case with the newly updated 2018 models...I reached out to Apple Support which suggested I reset the SMC & NVRAM, but the problems persisted after this. Today, I used compressed air and noticed that while the t issue seemed to be resolved, it immediately resumed a short while after.

Do I have a faulty device? Will this need to be repaired or returned? Pretty unsure what to do since the issue becomes quickly annoying and adds considerable time to my writing and editing.

I am on my 5th 2018 13" MBP and all 5 have had this problem. Always starts about 1 week into using the computer and always starts with the 'e' key and then migrates to the 't, s, r' keys. I am at a total loss and don't know what to do. Apple seems to say that they haven't heard from anyone but me that this is happening with their 2018 keyboards, but here I am reading on this page that others are also having this issue.

Please Apple, let us know when this will be fixed.

I too . have argh there it goes, I get full stops between sentences sometimes, the space but doubles up sometimes, and it's the same with the e key and sometimes the p and t key.

I'm . getting haha there it goes again, I'm getting my mac swapped over tomorrow and HOPING the new one is fixed, but I likely wouldn't be surprised if the new one has it as well.

I'll keep you posted, I mean. You'd think by now they would have recalled the device's or pin pointed what / why it's with some models and not all of them. They really should have done a recall seems a LOT of people are having this issue.

Absolutely ridiculous! No reason to do a recall just because something SEEMS to be affecting a LOT of people as you say. How about this? I have a 2018 MBP and I have zero issues with my keyboard. Just because you're having an issue and read up on forums seeing a group of people complaining doesn't warrant a recall and it certainly doesn't validate your claim that a LOT of people are having issues. I hope you realize that there are a great deal of people who don't even own the MacBook Pro and will exacerbate issues a few others are having simply to tarnish Apple's reputation? It does happen you know? I'm kinda tired of seeing posts like yours. It's usually a one-liner. As soon as one of the more prominent members questions the complainer's concerns these types of posters never return or respond. It ends up being just a one-liner which makes me feel suspect about apparent agendas here.

The worst service I've ever had.

I bought the macbook in 2018 and still didn't find a way to fix the keyboard issue. I use the machine at work everyday and cannot effort more money to buy a new one.. And the issue is so annoying..

Ideally you should just replace the bad product with a new one for every customer. I think if Apple cares of customers it must be done.

Forgive me if this is not quite what yuo're looking for but I've managed to mitigate the issue by using a keyboard cover. One of those cheap rubbery sheets you can get on Ebay for your MBP. By chance I stumbled on this as it came with my protective case and thought I'd give it a try. Lo' and behold my double strokes have all but disappeared. But the typing experience is impacted of course. It takes some getting used to. I guess maybe I'm now striking the key differently.
