iOS 11 - Unable to search calendar more than 12 months
Is this fixed in iOS 12?
I have to use another App - Calvetica- to search back several years, but that works so I know the data is still there?

Go to Settings > Calendar > Sync. Change this to "All Events".
If you set Calendar to sync "All Events" they are indeed all on your phone, you just can't search back more than 1 year. For example, you know that you bought a new car on June 1st 2010, and entered this into Calendar. Searching for it will turn up nothing, but if in Calendar you go into the full Year view and scroll back to 2010, June, you´ll find it! Not much help, but it´s all we have at the moment. You could send Apple feedback requesting that this search limitation be removed in some future iOS update:
Hope this helps you! Regards, Ian.
I would check on iCloud.com directly and make sure everything is searchable there. Assuming that it is, then the iPhone might not be syncing all the events due to exceeding a maximum: Limits for iCloud Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Bookmarks - Apple Support
The only other thing you can do is toggle iCloud Calendar off and back on, or sign out and back in to iCloud. More than likely is going to be an event limit or something since 1 year is not a syncing option anyhow.
It is set at that. Doesn’t work. Still 1 year.
Yes, Thanks, Ian;
As I said at the top, Calvetica finds them all and is a decent calendar, though support is looking a bit dodgy at the moment. MacBook Pro calendar searches my whole history, so I can do what I wanted.

Bob
What type of account is it that is not syncing past one year? Gmail? Outlook?
