High Sierra crashes when not in safe mode

I'm running MacOs High Sierra 10.13.6 on a Macbook Pro Retina from mid 2014

When running the computer in safe mode, I have graphics issues. Specifically, running Chrome and Spotify (with GPU acceleration enabled) leads to unusable products (flickering and jolting screens) - disabling GPU acceleration improves the situation but still shows signs of graphics problems. Lots of flickering, and very poor graphics response.

In non-safe mode the same problems aren't present but opening Chrome or Spotify leads to almost immediate crashes. I also have mds_stores processes running at ever-increasing speed until the laptop is very hot. Eventually in both of the above cases, the computer screen goes to black, and a few seconds later the computer shuts down.

So far I've tried resetting PRAM and the SAC but with no improvement.

Thanks!

Description:

When running the computer in safe mode, I have graphics issues. Specifically, running Chrome and Spotify (with GPU acceleration enabled) leads to unusable products (flickering and jolting screens) - disabling GPU acceleration improves the situation but still shows signs of graphics problems.

In non-safe mode the same problems are present, but I also have mds_stores processes running at full speed until the computer screen goes to black, and a few seconds later the computer shuts down.

I would not be happy with this legalization of theft.

"The EULA[36] (Paragraph #2) allows IBM to take any files they think might be related either to malware or software malfunctions from the device that it is installed on. "

I'd get rid of Trusteer is a Boston-based[2][3] computer security division of IBM:

When running the computer in safe mode, I have graphics issues.

Curious. Your not using the GPU in this case. I'd say that indicates a problem with the display.Or, could be your running graphic intensive apps.

Specifically, running Chrome and Spotify (with GPU acceleration enabled) leads to unusable products (flickering and jolting screens) - disabling GPU acceleration improves the situation but still shows signs of graphics problems.

In safe mode, the gpu should be disabled. How did you enable GPU acceleration? I'd say it's being ignored.

Lots of flickering, and very poor graphics response.

Makes sense since the gpu is disabled.

Have you considered doing a hardware diagnoses? Taking it to an apple store and having them do it?

If it doesn't crash in Safe Mode, the problem is most likely one of these:

Kernel Extensions:

/Library/Application Support/VirtualBox

[Loaded] VBoxDrv.kext (Oracle America, Inc., 5.1.8)

[Loaded] VBoxNetAdp.kext (Oracle America, Inc., 5.1.8)

[Loaded] VBoxNetFlt.kext (Oracle America, Inc., 5.1.8)

[Loaded] VBoxUSB.kext (Oracle America, Inc., 5.1.8)

/Library/Extensions

[Loaded] intelhaxm.kext (6.0.3 - SDK 10.9)

You need to uninstall them using the developer's uninstall application or instructions.

I suspect IntelHaxm as I haven't seen any recent VB versions cause a panic. However, I think VB has some newer versions if it does turn out to be that.
