Hello, everyone. So I just updated to iOS 12 on my iPhone 8, And I noticed that the true tone option has completely disappeared from the phone display settings. It is not in the accessibility settings, and it’s not in control center as an option on the screen brightness tab. Just wondering if this is the case with anybody else who has upgraded their device today.

Was this a screen installed by Apple?
Unfortunately, not. It’s original screen, but in case of some reasons it was installed by another service. On iOS 11 everything was fine.
If it was installed by another service it is not an original screen. That is why you are not seeing the True Tone option.
Scott, it never dawned on me to ask you if you've had the screen on your iPhone 8 replaced with an aftermarket screen? If you have, you now know why you've lost the True Tone setting.
It is harder on us to troubleshoot when small bits of vital info are left out of the equation. At least you guys got the info eventually.

Same happened to my 8plus. After the update true tone feature was missing from the control centre and even from the settings> display. Battery life ***** in ios 12.

I'm going to guess you had your iPhone X screen replaced by someone other than Apple? If you did, your phone is not reading the screen on your phone as True Tone capable.
No damage, screen was the original screen that came with the iPhone X
Then schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show it to them.
What about iOS 12.01? Have you installed it yet? If so, is the True Tone option still missing?
