iOS12 update Speak Screen

My iPhone speak screen (2-finger swipe) is not working properly since iOS 12 update. It seems to read differently when it encounters a sentence or paragraph marks. Here are a few examples “… and ꟷ” . The text will then proceed to read in a different language until it turns the page. If it encounters another sentence character the problem starts over again.
