After updating to tvOS 12 yesterday, the HBO app on my Apple TV (4K) is delaying subtitles. If I close the app and start watching something again, subtitles are showed properly but after two lines it starts delaying the subtitles again.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem? Netflix's subtitles are working fine.

Apple called me this afternoon and they asked me to run some diagnostic analysis and send the log file to them so they can look into the problem. It really seems an issue with tvOS since the FOX app sent a notification asking users not to upgrade to iOS 12 (the issue affects both OSes).
If they get back to me with feedback I'll update this thread.
Yeap, today I received the same message from FOX after opening the App on iPhone to don’t update iOS. Strangely, I’ve tried to screen mirroring from iPhone to Apple TV (using HBO and FOX) and the problem with delayed subtitles persisted. It seems that the video it’s entirely processed on Apple TV, because of the error. When played on iPhone with iOS 11.4.1 subtitles worked fine in both apps hahaha.
On my apple tv generation 4 and hbo application the subtitles disappear completely after several seconds. If I close the app and start watching something again, subtitles are showed properly but after few seconds it starts disappearing the subtitles again. Same if I turned subtitles off then turn on again. Same result if I'm making mirroring from hbo go application on ipad to tv via apple tv. I made update to hbo go application but same result. It's clear for me that it's a bug in the latest ios 12 software. I tried with subtitles in Romanian and English.
Any of apps? I've got this problem with HBO, but for example Netflix works without any issues. Ok, I have an issue with Netflix that I the button to skip the credits at the beginning of an episode does not work after the update to tvOS 12. But the subtitles in Netflix are fine...
Yeap, after update to 12.0.1 everything came back to normal (HBO GO and FOX). The Netflix and Prime Video from Amazon still working fine, no problems at all with subtitles. Thanks Apple for the support (they called me in BR for diagnosis) and care for the update, I really appreciated!
I am experiencing the same problem on my Apple TV 2nd generation tvOS 6.2.1 watching Spanish language program , Cable Girls, with English subtitles on Netflix. And German language program, Babylon Berlin...about a 7 second delay on English subtitles. If I choose default language I get English language dubbing, which I do not want.
The same with me, over HBO Go and FOX app.
I have the same problem with Apple TV 4K and just updated tvOS 12:
- HBO GO app is loosing subtitles after 2 lines.
If I restart a show - subtitles are back for next 2 lines and than disappear again.
I've got exactly the same problem with HBO app after the update 😟. Let's hope they fix it soon.
Have the problem with multiple apps and subtitles. All worked well before os12 update. Now iPad Apple TV apps all with issues. It’s OS issue for sure.
Same problem on my 4k here in norway. Doesent work on any of my apps.
Today Apple released tvOS 12.0.1.
I can confirm that after installation issue with subtitles is gone.
It seems fine after 12.01.
