True Tone option gone from iPhone X after ios 12 update
iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1
Hi ,
No my screen is original , never replaced.
Sure there are many others facing same issue even after not having screen replaced.
Having the same problem as well on my X. Updated a few days ago and it disappeared. I’ve been trying a remedy to this and nothing so far... Hopefully Apple will release another small update soon to fix this.
Same thing here with my Iphone 8 Plus. Always had true tone enabled and once I updated to IOS 12, the true tone option is gone in the settings and also in the control panel. Hopefully it’s a small bug and it gets added back soon with an update
this happens because you changed the screen of your iphone, im sure this could be a bug cuz i changed the screen and i used a genuine iphone 8+ screen not from third parties and i have the same issue, ALS work great but True Tone is gone.
i was reading on ifixit Forums that this can be fix i with a tool that can resotore back the true tone option.
This bug persist in iOS 11.0.1, I removed the sceeen from an iPhone 8 Plus iCloud locked and replace the cracked one, even like that the True Tone is missing in ios 12, the ambient light sensor works great.
Did any of you replace your screen with your phone with an aftermarket (not an Apple installed) screen?
If you did, True Tone seems to not work anymore with iOS 12.
Thanks for the info. I did have my screen replaced, however, it was replaced with an original one, not with an aftermarket. Can you please tell me more about that tool or link me the forum topic?
Unless it was replaced by Apple, how do you know it was original? The fact True Tone disappeared would lead one to believe you did not get an authentic Apple screen.
In this link you will find information about it.
Replacing the display disbles the ALS (iOS 11.4) no matter what type of screen you use. It’s believed this is due to a bug in iOS 11. iOS 12 fix the ALS but disables True Tone option.
Mine is a new one from Tmobile but no True Tone on it. iPhone 8plus. Should I suspect on Tmobile as they gave me the refurbished one?
If you received a refurbished phone as a replacement, in all likelihood, the screen was replaced with an aftermarket screen. I would take that up with T-Mobile.
Have you had your screen replaced by an aftermarket service provider? If you have, that's why you no longer have True Tone.
