Having the exact same experience here. Without question, this issue began when I “upgraded” to iOS12. This issue has been devastating and needs to be resolved ASAP. I depend upon iMessage and can no longer trust/depend on the tool to send messages to the proper person. In the same way, I cannot be sure from whom texts are actually being sent.

It's rather ridiculous isn't it. I've had an iphone since the 4 and I love it, but I'm not blind enough to know when Apple has fixed something that wasn't broken, which broke it.

My messages are getting mixed up with my contacts too. Messages I am sending to my kids are going to wife and vice versa. PLEASE get this glitch fixed soon! Thank you

Sure does. The user caused the problem by ignoring Apple's iPhone instructions.

On the server side, Apple ID is used for iMessage, not your phone number.
Apple needs to undo this change add it to the latest beta, flush it out properly tested and re-add it after a few months of testing to iOS 12.1
How are your last response to this helpful at all. Is this the type of support a level six provides to users who are frustrated and are looking for actual help and support.
