watchOS 5 and Outlook 365 Calendar not syncing

I just upgraded to iPhone X to iOS12 and Apple Watch Series 2 to watchOS5.

My Outlook calendar appointments are now NOT displaying on my Watch calendar app, though my iCloud appointments are displaying on the Watch calendar app. I have tried unpairing/repairing (Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings) multiple times, hard resetting iPhone, hard resetting Watch, "Reset Sync Data" on iPhone Watch app, unselecting Outlook 365 calendar on iPhone and then re-selecting Outlook calendar on iPhone. I've also ensured that the iPhone Watch app Calendar setting is set to "Mirror iPhone" for both Notifications and Calendar. Ironically, I do get my Outlook calendar notifications on my Watch, but no corresponding calendar item in the Watch calendar app.

Is anyone else having this issue, and if so, have you been able to resolve it? If not, what's the best way to inform Apple about this bug?

Apple Watch Series 2, watchOS 5, null

The app is CalMate, and it's on the App Store, but for the 'delete' feature, you need the beta version.

Here's a link to the TestFlight beta (not sure of the apple forums rules - hope I'm not breaking them but hey, if so, I'm sure I'll find out!).

You have to install the TestFlight app, then re-click this link to get my beta. After installing, do this:

Launch app

Select 'calendars' and pick your Exchange calendar

Then, there are a couple of things people have done that have worked.

1. find any 'bogus' calendar entires - those that are stuck in your calendar inbox, those that hang when you select them, etc., and delete them

2. A user said this worked - after selecting your exchange calendar in CalMate, go back to iPhone --> settings and DISABLE your exchange calendar. Switch back to CalMate, and he had one meeting that still showed up, which was the one that iOS isn't handling properly. Go to Outlook/OWA and delete that invite, and re-enable the calendar on your phone.

Couple quick notes - I have a new beta waiting for Apple approval that fixed two bugs in this version:

1. I don't reload the calendar in CalMate after you delete a calendar entry, so even though you deleted it, it will show up in the app. You have to kill the app and re-launch. This will be fixed as soon as Apple approves the new beta.

2. The delete calendar dialog box had default text in it - this is also fixed in the next version.

Let me know if you can find the calendar entries messing up synchronization!

Unfortunately unchecking the exchange calendar for the watch (under custom...) hasn't worked for me. The existence of the Exchange account on the iPhone, even when not selected to sync to the watch, causes the unreliable syncing of everything else.

Could you check this quickly: Create a new calendar event on the iPhone on any of the other accounts that you do sync to the watch. Does the event show up on your watch within seconds? If not, it the sync daemon is likely still crashing. (In my case I tried this morning, after updating to iOS 12.0.1, all calendars are disabled on the watch, and just having the Exchange account on the iPhone breaks Reminders, for example)

Interesting. The senior advisor on my case called today. The engineers he spoke with have not implied they are on a path to a fix, or even acknowledge that there is an actual problem. I hope you turn out to be correct and a fix is on the way.

I was told today to try syncing the watch and phone with both on their respective chargers for 2 hours after reaching 100% battery to see if that allows the calendars to sync.

ok so what I was afraid off has just happened. The engineer responsible for my case just called me and said basically since I have a profile on my watch (profile for managing device), Apple is saying that it is the profile that has to be updated and not the iOS/Watch OS. So basically Apple will not do any update/fix, I need to contact O365 because my phone is "managed" via a profile software.

Profiles can be found under settings, General, Profiles.

very frustrating and disappointing.

I have the same problem, but my employer sent out a notice last week that there are some known problems with Office365 and iOS 12 - they didn't say what specifically, but they did say Microsoft would update Office365 by next week to address the problems, and recommended not updating until September 24th (of course I ignored that warning, deliberately).

It's possible that this watch problem is related to the issues that Microsoft will fix soon.

the fact that 24me works fine only shows that there is a bug with Calendar Apple Watch App that Apple needs to fix.

So far, having only 4 cases ID are not putting this into priority is my guess.

I have forwarded all 3 cases ID posted in this thread to Apple support attached to my case and they said it will definitely help. I think anyone having this problem should open a case and post the case ID here, this is not a setting problem.

To anyone having these issues, please open a CASE with Apple. So far in this thread, I've seen only 4 cases opened which I communicated to Apple support attached to my own case and they did say it helps.

It was already mentioned and validated that Apple Support Engineers DO NOT READ these forums. The only thing they take care of are CASES opened through support and the more info/logs/scenarios/settings they get, the faster they will fix this issue.

@ttusomeone I went to the exact same path at the beginning. My suggestion is that you ask to directly speak to a "senior advisor" and refer these cases to him/her below. That will save you time + getting the logs from your phone + 1 hour of useless pair/unpair/resync/delete calendar/create calendar/etc. that we all know will not work

Will do. I did some additional testing and my methodology and results are as follows:

- Observed that the sync did not appear to be happening between watch and phone

- Added a test event to an iCloud calendar on the phone

- Observed that it did not push to the Watch

- Deleted my Exchange Account from my phone wholesale

- Still no change on watch - not even the deletion of the existing calendar events (hypothesis: crashed sync daemon at one end)

- Rebooted watch to attempt to restart failed sync daemon

- Still no change

- Rebooted iPhone

- Observed that the events from the removed calendar now disappeared from the phone

- Added and removed several test events from remaining iCloud based calendars on the iPhone

- Observed that the sync was instantaneous as expected to the Watch

- Re-added the Exchange account to the iPhone

- Sync ran, partially - again, not all Exchange events are on the Watch although they are all present on the iPhone

- Adding and removing events to iCloud based calendars now again produces no change on the Watch

So, I hypothesize that the issue in fact lies in iOS, not WatchOS. But not knowing the full inner workings of the mechanism that replicates events between the two devices (is it a push based or pull based architecture? How are deltas computed?) this is just an educated guess

Well, I installed watchOS 5.1, I guess the last public iOS 12.1 beta was the same as the GA since it didn't show up to install on my phone. At first the Reminders were still missing. I kept waiting and after about 30 minutes they were still gone. Did the reset sync data and nothing showed up. Then sometime last night I noticed that Reminders were there. And I could create a reminder on the phone or watch and they almost instantly replicated to the other. So now <seriously huge knock on wood>, my Calendars and my Reminders are all showing up correctly on the watch. I just hope I don't have to restart the watch anytime soon and risk upsetting the Apple-cart.... 😉

Been on the phone with Apple support this morning. Have done everything asked including un pairing and repair with restore from backup. Nope. Next, Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings, set up as new watch. Still no. Delete Calendar from the phone, redownload from app store. No better off than before. I set a notification for an event I cannot see. When the notification occurred, i could then see the event. Dismiss the notification and now back to no events today or upcoming. Under general, Usage, Calendar and Reminders, there is 5.1 MB of data used. So there is data making it to the watch.

Next it goes to Apple engineers after moving through senior support.
