iPad Pro 9.7 Smart Keyboard not working; device making constant changing sounds

A few weeks earlier, the Smart Keyboard on my iPad started throwing up messages like ‘This accessory is not supported by your device’ and only intermittently stopped working. Now the situation is worse: the iPad doesn’t recognise the keyboard at all and keeps making charging noises (like 2 times a second) when I connect it to the keyboard. I tried all workarounds: force restarting, changing the WiFi connection, getting it on a mobile data plan (idk why it worked perfectly just a month ago), cleaning the Smart Connector and the keyboard contacts, etc.

iOS 12 didn’t solve the problem.

Help!

Hello aneemesh,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. The Smart Keyboard is a great tool for the iPad. I can help with this. You've done all the troubleshooting in the following article. There is one other thing you can try. See if another Smart Keyboard gives you the same error on your iPad, or you can try the keyboard on another iPad, whichever works better for you. This will help you determine if the issue is with the keyboard or the iPad. If it happens to be the iPad, you'll probably need to get it inspected by a technician. If it's the keyboard, and you bought in within one year, there is a one-year limited warranty on it as long as there is no physical damage to it. You'll just need your receipt to get it replaced. Here are a couple of links to help.
