Voice memos is not saved after i done recording

Hello, i've been searching for this problem but i didn't find any solutions. There are only an unanswered one.

So, i have an iphone x with the new ios 12 installed on it last night. This morning i had an interview class with my lecturer about my thesis. To make it easier for me to takes on every word he says, i choose to record it on the voice memos. I already test it first and it records. After that i pressed the red button and begin recording session, it did shows the recording process with the sound graph or something like that (sorry i didn't know how to called it). After like 57 minutes i done my interview, when i pressed the done button it just bring me to the voice memos and it didn't show the recording i just made. But, when i try to search on the home screen (that one when u swipe to the right and type on the search box) it shows my last already made recording with the correct voice memos names but it didn't show up on the voice memos apps. How can i recover that lost voice memos when i can still search the correct name and it still shows up the memos ?

I try to describe as specific as possible, because i hope i can recover that voice memos because it is really a very very important one. I made this communities support account just for this just to let you know.

Just wanted to let everyone that the by downloading imazing to my PC I was able to retrieve my lost voice memo file. In imazing I went to file systems and then media recordings. I found a folder with the date and time that matched when I made the recording. Clicked on it and there I found the missing voice memo. Clicked on it and it played! So from the imazing program I saved it to my PC and then transferred it to my itunes and put it in a playlist. Then I sync'd the playlist to my phone and can now hear the memo on my phone through the playlist. Crisis averted! Thanks to whoever suggested this work around.

Background

So I recorded a 52 minute long voice memo yesterday in class. Very important recording because I need it to complete my final exam. I periodically checked while I was in the class to make sure that it was still recording, which each time it was. When I wanted to end the recording there was no stop, end, or done button. So I closed down the app and returned to it. It brought me back to the recording and this time a done button appeared. I hit done. When I went to go find the recording to listen to it, it was nowhere to be found in the voice memo. I searched it on my phone and I could see the 52 min voice memo I had just recorded. I clicked on it and it took me back to voice memo but it did not show up there or in the deleted files. I contacted apple support. They could not resolve the problem. All they said is that this was a known issue that they are still investigating and to be sure to just update my iOS anytime there is an update. Thankfully the imazing suggestion worked. I have an iPhone XS and I am and was running iOS 12.1 when this problem occurred.

It's been on our expensive phones for 3 years and Apple does nothing even though we pay extra money for Applecare. Shouldn't this be illegal? Charging people to fix their bugs and then they do nothing at all.

So I contacted apple support, but they only gave me 2 options which i have already tried. 1. to restart the phone (I know, it's genious) and 2. to try synch with itunes, but both didn't do anything for me. I need this memo asap, I'm losing my mind over here... Has anyone recovered it successfully????

Glad you and spoke with Apple. Please report back here on Monday so that others that are having that same issue will know if you got a work around.

I'm of no help since it is working for me, but am curious to see what is going on with so many others' devices. Good luck.

How can you make your voice memos show up in iCloud? Shouldn't it be in iTunes?

I have just had the same issue today. The rare thing is that if I record new voice memos, they keep on adding one number at the end of the title. Let's say, if the lost one was "Voice Memo 2", even if it does not appear, the new one is "Voice Memo 3". I can still delete "Voice Memo 3" and the new one will be again "Voice Memo 3". So "Voice Memo 2" should be hidden somewhere.

Someone mentioned elsewhere of a work around.

they said to enable “add to notes “ button, which adds the voice memo to a note, and that can be backed up to iCloud.

* keep in mind that I’m not experiencing this problem with voice memo, so I am just passing this along to you hoping that it will help somebody.

Many thanks. I thought there was a "more direct" way, but that helps in order not to lose our Voice Memos.

Let's wait for the other people answers regarding Customer Support. It looks like this problem has been happening a lot recently with the new iOS 12. I just hope the Voice Memos are still recoverable.

I’m sure Apple is working in it as I’m sure many have contacted them via feedback.

did you try this work around with a new voice memo? If it worked for you, continue saving them that way until the issue is fixed.

I’m not having the problem on my phone but many people are.

Thank you, I have just sent the feedback.

On the other hand, I have renamed my "Voice Memo 1", recorded a new one and it got the "Voice Memo 1" name. Then I have recorded another one and it got the "Voice Memo 3" name. This means that the lost "Voice Memo 2" should be hidden somehow. We just need the way to recover it.

Has there been any resolution? I lost a 45 minute interview and can not access it anywhere. Even if I deleted it, it would be in deleted files.

Some help would be great. Apple support could not assist.

But will it be possible to get the interview back despite it not seeming to be there?

The weird thing is that all of the pre and post practice tests are still there or in the deleted file.

Is it something to do with the liebgth of interview?

It was 45 minutes. The tests were a matter of seconds.

I found my list recording when I connected my iPhone 6 with iOS 12.0.1 to Bluetooth & The CPS in my car. I began hearing my lost recording on my car speakers & GPS screen shows my Sudio recording as an”Incoming Call”.

I could not stop it from playing g over & over until I manually Deleted all recordings.

Same here. The app won’t save in the first place so there is no recording to “recover”. I lost a 3.5 mtg last week and a 2.5 hr mtg again tonight. I am screwed.

Just dowloaded a recording app until I can buy a Samsung this wkend. This ended it for me with Apple.

I downloaded the free app Voice Recorder and I'm using that now. I have done a few quick tests and it seems good, but I have not tried to back it up to iTunes yet (critical for me - I also back up my recordings onto a flash drive). I have lost two critical recordings in the past week and can't do this again. The consequences of losing them has been enormous. You might want to consider an outside app just to be on the safe side.

Yes. Three times. No response. I even sent screen shots via Twitter DM showing the lack of a "done" option to save. It's a 50/50 shot whether or not I get that option. Without it, all I can do is resume recording (forever??) or close the app which basically crashes and nothing is saved. When I start recording, the done option will be there; when I pick up the phone 2 hrs later it is still recording the done option is gone. If ANYTHING happens during the recording (receive a text, open another app) then nothing will save. I can recreate the problem all the time. Last night I recorded a 2.5 hr mtg in airplane mode (with the done option on the screen when I started) and it still crashed. I have used this app to record over 1,000 hrs of air time with no problems until I did that stupid update last week. This has cause me epic problems and heartbreak.
