CarPlay issue with 2018 Accord

Can a 2018 Honda Accord know about two different iPhones? I have my phone connecting just fine, and that's great for when I'm driving it. But I cannot get my wife's iPhone to pair up with the car and this is very annoying. I plug in her iPhone with the USB cable, the entertainment center never gives a Car Play icon, never seems to acknowledge the phone, the iPhone itself just sits there searching for a car. Very aggrevating!

Thanks for the reply, but none of that helped. I'll be going to Honda next. Most of that I had done before, including the forget this car step. Nothing is helping.

Life isn't all good with my iPhone with regards to CarPlay. For example, too often I'll go to CarPlay and it will start doing whatever it was doing last (like podcasts, or music) and do so without the strip of icons on the left hand side of the display. This makes it hard if not impossible to do something different. Sometimes I have to bounce back and forth from Car Play and FM Radio until that strip of icons appears. And then I get the home button so that I can choose a different task from my phone.

Hi bjurasz,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're having trouble with your wife's iPhone connecting to CarPlay in your 2018 Honda, while your iPhone is able to connect without issue. I know it's important to be able to use this feature; I'm happy to help. I'd recommend working through the steps below to troubleshoot the behavior you're experiencing:

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. After your iPhone is updated, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

  1. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car.
  3. Make sure that Siri is on.
  4. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
  5. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and tap Forget This Car.
  6. Check your connection:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, enable AirPlane mode by going to Settings > Airplane Mode. Don't enable Airplane Mode from Control Center.
  7. If needed, install firmware updates. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

How to use CarPlay with your iPhone

If these steps don't work, you may need to check with Honda to see if CarPlay has any limitations regarding the number of devices you can use with your vehicle.

Best Regards.
