iOS 12 Bluetooth Uconnect issue

I updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 12, and immediately noticed that there is now a significant lag in song selection when connected to bluetooth in my car's Uconnect head unit. When a new song plays, the song run time is frozen for exactly 30 seconds while the song plays. If I try to toggle next/last track selection using the car's audio controls during this time, nothing happens until the 30 seconds pass, then it changes to the next song. It happens very consistently now with every new song that plays. Also, during some songs it'll do this freeze for 30 seconds where song navigation won't trigger.

Can't overstate how annoying this is. Has anyone else experienced this?

I bought a Ram truck with the Uconnect sytem back in June, 2018. I have an iPhone X and never had any problem with either. As soon as I upgraded my iPhone X to iOS 12 I started having the same type of problems.

I have a family Apple Music subscription and I REALLY notice it more when I playing a large playlist, (like over 50 songs.) I don't see the issue at all if I just play songs from my downloaded music library. Very frustrating.

I've been working with Apple Support on supplying a video and logs of the issue when occurring. They've been responsive so far, but no solution.

I work for a tech/customer facing company, and when we have incident tickets opened with multiple people reporting the same issue, we start going into P1 status and it's all hands on deck. So far, this issue has 62 people reporting occurrence, I would think that there is some kind of major effort behind the fix. But I'm sure Apple gets all kinds of issue reports, so I don't know their production support cadence.

I am having the same exact issue. Mine lasts anywhere from 30 seconds to almost a minute. And just like you described...while it's waiting to change the track there is nothing you can do. The only thing I did notice is if you change the track on the phone itself it works every single time. But that's a no go since Georgia is a hands free/no hands on the phone at all state. Seems like Apple didn't test this very much with the UConnect system. I was really looking forward to the new iOS and the new designed iPhone. Guess I'll have to go back to my Android for the time being until a fix is released.

As a last ditch attempt, I updated my Uconnect from SW 17.11.07 to 17.43.01 hoping against hope that that would trigger some kind of connectivity miracle with iOS 12.1. No dice - after a couple trips where it seemed to work, it's now back to a 30 second delay every few minutes. I know eventually they'll solve it, but this is getting tedious.

I have the same problem in my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee every time I drive it. Once the 30 second wait is over you can skip multiple times but if you leave it alone for a while you get the 30 second delay again. I'm in the bay area and, despite the insane traffic here, this bugs me enough that I'd be willing to swing by you guys at Apple if you think it would help to see it live.

I have a 13 Dodge Dart ralley, I don’t have the navigations and on call on my uconnect just have the regular edition and ever since I’ve updated my iPhone 8 Plus to ios12 the lag is unbelievable, most of the time it don’t pull up my whole song playlist on my screen half of song playlist is just gray then you have to press on a song in the gray for the other half to load and sometimes it don’t even let you switch to another song until like 30 seconds when it’s done lagging, uconnext needs to come out with a update ASAP this is annoying

Mine looked to improve but ultimately is still the same. On my one hour drive back home, it worked flawlessly for 45 min. Then when I shut the car off, got my kids from day care and got back in, the screen and track freezing came back with a vengeance for my 15 min back home.

This morning, my SXM was stuck in "XM is updating, please wait" mode all morning - I thought perhaps Uconnect may have pushed something down via AOTA. But ultimately I'm still experiencing the issue.

I have the same issue using ITunes and Spotify. Spotify will actually stop playing for some reason. I drive a 2014 Ram 1500. I updated Uconnect a month or two ago maybe??

Songs won't advance. Using the buttons on the back of the steering wheel, Uconnect display, and phone. None of this will work. I've even had the phone (IPhone 7 plus) not connect to Uconnect.
