iOS 12 Bluetooth Uconnect issue

I updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 12, and immediately noticed that there is now a significant lag in song selection when connected to bluetooth in my car's Uconnect head unit. When a new song plays, the song run time is frozen for exactly 30 seconds while the song plays. If I try to toggle next/last track selection using the car's audio controls during this time, nothing happens until the 30 seconds pass, then it changes to the next song. It happens very consistently now with every new song that plays. Also, during some songs it'll do this freeze for 30 seconds where song navigation won't trigger.

Can't overstate how annoying this is. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't want to jinx it... but ever since I installed iOS 12.2 Beta 3 on my iPhone XS, this problem has disappeared. I've driven in my truck several times over the last two weeks since installing it and have not had any issues when skipping through my track list. Beta 4 came out today, but I haven't installed it yet. I'll post back in a few days once I've installed it and tested it out a few times. Hopefully it stays fixed, but it wouldn't be the first time that the issue appeared to be fixed on one iOS release only to be broken again on the next one.

Not sure when 12.2 will release. Beta 6 is the most recent build, so it's probably getting close. Unfortunately, my experience on Beta 5 has gone back to experiencing UConnect lockups when trying to skip through the track list. It's not happening as often as it did before, but it's definitely a step down from what I experienced on Beta 4. That may have just been luck though. I'm installing Beta 6 today and will play with it over the next few days. Hopefully it improves again.

I had commented on this last month and then I got an email from Apple stating that they deleted my post. So, I sold all my Apple Products Imac, Apple Watch, iPads and iPhones and now, I have a samsung galaxy note 8 and I couldn't be happier and it works just find with my uConnect in my Jeep. Not to mention I am able to have it read my text messages which I couldn't do with my iPhone. Thanks Apple for having forum nazis and deleting posts! If it wasn't for the Apple guy I would have never known what I was missing out on.

I didn't get through 3 songs before the issue popped up again. Same exact symptoms as before.

Apple - if you're reading this. With all due respect, PLEASE put more urgency behind this. Every iteration of iOS 12 has had this issue, since it rolled out last September. Not having bluetooth access creates an annoyance at best and a safety hazard at worst, as drivers dig out their phones because track selection doesn't work. If the issue is on FCA's side, then work harder with them on a firmware update to fix this.

I brought my car to the dealer/service center today and they say I need the radio replaced. I have a 2013 Dodge Dart. My issue is none of the bluetooth/hands free options work. I updated the uconnect software, but it didn’t help. I tried all the ways people have mentioned to kickstart it into working and none of them helped. I tried a friend android phone and it didn’t work either.

Same issue here since iphone 6 with iOS 12 on a 2012 RAM 2500. We've got 5 iphones in my house and all of them do this after iOS 12. My friend has a Galaxy Note9 and she doesn't have any issues when connected to the truck.

I've been watching this thread for months, hoping for a resolution but no luck. I've got a couple older android phones lying around so loaded one up with songs. No issues at all. Father's Day is coming up so I think I'll be going to a Google Pixel 3a. Very unhappy with the support.

Yea I don’t think this will ever be resolved for our generation hardware. I’ve heard from FCA engineers state that there’s basically nothing more they can do. As the system works fine for the newer Uconnect head units, I don’t think they’re going to put too much more effort into this gen head unit. Unfortunate. Let’s hope iOS 13 somehow makes it work again. Not holding my breath.

kind I’d mind boggling that apple hasn’t or can’t address this issue. I am honestly to the point that I’d switch cell companies as well. Listening to music in my truck has become a nightmare.

Are people experiencing issues with iPhone X,XS,XR as well? Mine is a 7+ giving me issues now, with a 2017 ram 1500.

Also have people been to dodge about the issues? They should be updating headunits to the next generation under warranties in my opinion but that seems like a long shot.
