Change default browser MacOS High Sierra

I am familiar with click + control in the system preference/general/change default browser. The only option available is Safari. I also checked for hidden pop-up messages asking if I'm sure I want to change the default browser. I even checked other apple support community threads for a work-around. I also tried to download the Chrome app it wasn't available in the App Store. Any suggestions to change my default browser?

I have MacBook pro, 2017 running 10.13.6.
