What is the disappearing slider icon that appears under battery when openign lock screen

Since updating to IOS12 there has been a horizontal line that appears, briefly displays two bottons, then disappears. What is this for?

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, iOS 12

The indicate the new swipe down for control center from the lock screen. Once you’ve swiped to get the control center, they stop showing.

So, once again this is appearing under, old hardware. I apologize and if someone can assist me it getting this off of my profile, I would appreciate it. I cannot seem to use logic to update or get rid of it.
