Apple Watch 3/Watchos 5 - Swimming not counting laps or calories correctly.

I have an Apple Watch 3, and just updated to WatchOS 5 yesterday. Today during my swim workout, the yardage counting is completely off - I swam 6500 yards, and it shows 100 yards. The calories burned are about 4-500 different than normal, the auto sets are completely wrong/missing as well as times and everything. Is there a bug with the new watchOS and swimming? Anyone else have this issue? I swim the exact same distance/time 5 days a week and the Apple Watch workout app has always been extremely consistent in measuring distance, time, strokes, etc. I count my laps and the Apple Watch historically always got it exactly right. Now today, after watchos 5 update, it's not even close.

Thanks,

Andy

I’ve contact Apple on this a few times but I’m really pursuing it this time as it’s so frustrating! Their answer today was that the engineers say this is normal (my watch has stopped counting lengths and distance while swimming but when I end the workout the data appears) I’ve said that’s not a satisfactory explanation as when I bought the watch 12 months ago it tracked just fine whilst swimming and was really accurate! Not taking no for an answer this time!

Same thing has started happening to me.

series 3 been working fine for a year and now going wrong.

Doesn’t record lengths or distance in pool swim and during the swim keeps going back to the home screen. Also, calorie count is way out.

All 3 rings keep dropping down to zero then going back up.

The running man man icon is animating in the corner and then stopping for a second, not sure it was doing that before.

Tried everything mentioned here.

Really cheesed off. I use my watch to track my swimming everyday and it’s been faultless for a year.

Same problem on new Watch 4. Worked the first swim. On the second swim it did not track my laps but did show the exercise in the activity loop. I'm new to the watch, so unsure of all the correct terminology. I did the power off app trick and powered off the watch and restarted. Will see what happens on my next swim. So frustrating. I kept stopping and trying to fix t no avail. Not sure what you mean by unpairing. Unpairing with my phone?
