Until this weeks update, I was able to go to FORMAT and click down and find a phonetic alphabet function for furigana for Japanese...now its gone!
And yes, my keyboard is set up for international use.

If I can't duplicate this problem, Apple may not be able to either. I wonder how our systems differ. Are you running your OS in something other than English? Are you in High Sierra? Do you have any antivirus installed?

Unfortunately no. Phonetic Guide Text seems to have been wiped from the program. Though my document with guide text that I added before upgrading still remains and the option to change and modify them still comes up when I click on the text. The option however is gone from all menus and I have switched to word in th the meantime.

High Sierra on both English and Japanese with the whole thing configured correctly and has been doing so until I updated Pages last week.
There was a function that gave a phonetic guide text which would sit above the word itself on the document.
It's gone...still available on iOS 12 on iPad and iPhone but no longer on iMac.

I still have this function. Pictures provided above. Could you provide pictures of what you see when you type a kanji, select it, and then do control plus click?

On mine it has completely disappeared.
A few colleagues here in japan have made the same discovery today.
Oh and it’s not only in pages but also keynote as well.

Hi, I just found out that I have the same difficulty. I can no longer add furigana to Japanese text using Pages on my iPhone running on iOS 12.0.1. That useful feature has simply disappeared. My older Pages files still show the furigana that I added, but I can’t edit them anymore. Can anything be done about that?
It’s so unfortunate.
There’s no change despite everyone I know here in Tokyo complaining to apple.
At least it’s still available on iPad and iPhone, which is where I’ll have to do my scriptwriting from now on...or on Word for iMac which still has it.
Never thought I’d see the day that I’m choosing Word over Pages, but that’s the world we live in.

Thanks for the photo! Are you also in Japan? If it works ok for me it may be working for apple as well, which will make it hard to trouble shoot.

It seems to work on my system, this from Pages 7.2 and High Sierra.
