iPhone XS Max Weak 5GHz WIFI Reception

I used to have full bars at my bed with iPhone X, now the Max only has 2. And it has trouble reconnect to the WIFI after airplane mode is turned on with WIFI turned on.

It’s not about being qualified. My statement was just an opinion because of the constant threads I’m coming across. I’m hoping this will be fixed soon and apple takes this seriously this time. If you make a statement as you did that this can't be fixed by software, that's not an opinion, it's a statement. Don't "assume" Apple can't solve this. You know what happens when you "Assume!" I think you need to change your name to jerryguesses! 😉

Apple IS taking this quite seriously. They've reached out to a lot of posters in this and other threads on this very topic. They're collecting data and you can be assured the Apple Genius are burning the midnight oil on this for sure.

People just need to have a little patience.

Thanks:) The location I purchased at is high traffic. Ten days after release there was still a line for purchase of the new devices. I can only speculate the reason this device is working and the other one didn’t, but with all the logging Apple has been doing I’m sure they will get things straightened out. And many kudos to their support and being proactive.

AppleCare support has been great. Granted the chat app folks weren’t but the person who called me was. I do believe they are taking this very seriously. And are working to figure out what the bug is and how to fix

I have heard rumors on the inter webs that there may be a carrier update coming soon.

With that said when Apple did troubleshooting with me over the phone they had me remove the Sim Card from the XS Max and my wife’s XS and put them in our 8plus units. After testing there we put the SIM cards back in the XS units and I have to say signal has actually gotten better.

So weird.

But we shall see. Hang in there everyone

I appreciate and thank you for serving in the Marines. But you won't see me in the jungle. I'm not a keyboard warrior either. I've just been here on this forum for several years, helping countless people through multiple launches and I know how Apple works when it comes to issues like this. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. There are those who say they can prove the earth is flat. Here's a hint. It's not.

Yeah I definitely agree with that. 90% of stuff on the web is either true false or misleading. Then one person chimes in on something (apple haters) and makes it more confusing for us and to believe what is said. It’s definitely takes a lot of knowledge to work these issues, and ones like us on here, can only assist each other with their own personal experiences with the new flagships. I’m actually posting this on my XS. It’s currently reactivated and trying to live with these issues for now. Hopefully not for long. iPhone xs 64 gray by

*** I believe it might be just be a bad batch or just one of the two companies assembling them is maybe dropping the ball somewhere (either Pegatron or FoFoxconn). On the other hand I did have issues with mine and my wife's and even issues with a replacement (LTE/Wifi was slow or non existent, maps would work half the time, dropping calls left and right) by the way, I did a clean install, swap SIM cards about 3 times, as aforementioned I replaced the phone, and installed the 12.1 beta 1 without any success. However, I see people at work experiencing no issues, whether they just got it or got them on launch day. My recommendation, either it is too unbearable and just return it like I did (kind of regret it because I do hope it gets fixed and had to pay att a $45 restocking fee) or just wait a couple of weeks and I am sure the next replacement will work as it is supposed to.

If these issues were a random event for a few people that might have been caused by a corrupted restore process then going to such an extreme measure might be reasonable. But when Apple themselves have reached out to people on this forum and on Twitter and had them install a logging profile, it’s not a random event. Just the fact that they’ve reached out directly is extremely rare. My guess, and it seems to be supported by the guy above who mentions the software we’re not supposed to talk about even though all major sites have articles about it, is that it’s software related. And going to such extreme measures including swapping the phones will almost never be successful. I really wish people would exercise common sense and patience.

If the performance of the phone is intolerable then I understand returning it and using something more reliable for now. That’s reasonable. But most of the posts don’t seem to indicate that the phones are just not functioning well enough to be useable. Oh, I would expect the post above to be deleted. Mine were, and all I did was post a link to an AppleInsder article about the software that shall not be named. Anyway if that person was correct in the post then a little patience is all that is required. Not some voodoo ritual of wipe, restore, rinse and repeat.

Agree, whomever is "editing" these posts just leaves whatever it/he wants to and give a complete different message. Jerryknows I believe had every right to bring up different discussions, but some people here will just defend "helping countless people" whatever. As a shareholder I rather see apple continue having people like that, but as an iPhone owner this is a disgrace

I had been replying in another thread concerning the charging issue. The article on AppleInsider that I linked to stated that the software that shall not be named fixed the issue. All I did was put the link in and each post was removed. I thought that was a little silly since it was a publication, among several, that had a widely circulated report. Deleting my post seemed like closing the barn door after the horses have left.

The hosts are just doing their job, which is to hold up to the terms of use (TOU) for the forum. In order to be able to post here, we ALL had to agree to them. If a post is edited or deleted, it's because the content was in violation of the TOU. Some people do post Nonsense, but that in itself is not a violation of the TOU. The people who are using beta software, signed a Non Disclosure Agreement stating they would not publicly discuss their findings publicly. They have their own forum to discuss the software. Discussing beta software in this forum is prohibited.

Hopefully you better understand how this all works.
