iPhone XS Max Weak 5GHz WIFI Reception

I used to have full bars at my bed with iPhone X, now the Max only has 2. And it has trouble reconnect to the WIFI after airplane mode is turned on with WIFI turned on.

your...you are right, I do apologize for my previous behavior. I am on the same boat as everyone here, but I do have a XS (work only, personal had to return it) I guess I was a bit frustrated due to the fact that somebody was bashing another person on a statement, then asking for credentials to come up with such, just for them to make a statement when they are not apple engineers either. Everybody here is pitching in every single piece of information they can find, hence my visit to this forum as I am hopeful for this to be fixed.

I do understand and I am a member of the beta test group but have not installed the recent iOS software so I have no knowledge of what it does. And I was not discussing it either, I provided a link to a publicly available article, one of many available by searching. I am well aware of what the hosts do but it’s curious that you could go to any Apple related site or publication and see the relevant information for yourself but the links get deleted here. Even though I have seen just today the software that shall not be named get named in many posts even in this thread. It’s all out there whether my links are deleted or not and no discussion has taken place here, that I’ve seen anyway. But it’s not my decision how the edits occur so I’m good.

I fully understand what you're saying. I suppose not all hosts do the same things. The hosts almost always do delete links from 3rd party publications that discuss issues such as this. We can all go out and find these articles, they just don't want them posted on their hosted forum. Believe me, I've had more than my share of posts removed over the years and most of them were my fault for getting too emotional.

I'll go back to my parents basement now. 👿 [I actually wish I could. I'm 63 years old and would give anything to be able to do so, but that house and my parents are long gone.]

Me and my husband are having the same issues, we had better reception with WiFi and LTE with his 6+ and my 7+. We’ve had these phones for a little over a week this is insane I’m ready to go to apple and tell them to take them back. They better get this fixed, I’ve been with Apple for a while and I would really hate changing to something else.

You may want to connect your phone to your computer and open iTunes. I typically see carrier updates directly on my phone. I am on AT&T, but just about 2 days ago, I was syncing something to my phone via iTunes, when a carrier update popped up and the update downloaded via iTunes. What it did I don't know as I wasn't having Wifi or LTE issues, but it did download a carrier update via iTunes.

I’m very sorry to say that for me, 12.0.1 didn’t solve the issue. My Xs still performs just as bad as before. I’ve made a hard reset and even reset all network settings. Still no fix.

I’m wondering if there are several different issues with basically the same symptoms since some users report that this update fixed their problems.

It worked for some, as for some are having these widespread issues. I myself am affected. I’ve had 3 replacements and nothing worked. I lived with it for 2 weeks until yesterday 12.0.1. It worked on WiFi for speeds and range but not for cellular. LTE is still a struggle. I believe that this will be fixed because we all doubted the WiFi gate and it worked (for most). Those with WiFi issues may not have LTE issues and vice versa. Not every device has these issues but more than enough to fill up dozens of forums for the same issues. There’s many more updates in the works, be patient and I’m sure that will be fixed hopefully soon.

Your phone absolutely supports the Qi Standard for charging. I charge my XS Max on a Qi charger only. iPhone X, XS, XS Max and the upcoming XR all have Qi charging. If yours isn't working with a certified Qi standard charger your phone is defective. My XS Max is also lightning fast. Far faster than my iPhone X was. You should schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius bar.
