iMessage and FaceTime problem

Hi guys

My daughter has just purchased a MacBook Air she created Apple ID and all went ok, she can sign into iTunes, App Store etc without any problems, however she is unable to activate iMessage or FaceTime she keeps getting an error message the activation has been unsuccessful and try again later.

She has gone through all the suggested work a rounds on the Apple support site without any success

Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated.

She has no other Apple device other than her new MacBook

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), macOS Sierra (10.12.3)

Have someone else attempt to sign in using their Apple ID. If they can successfully sign in and use Messages/FaceTime, it may be your Apple ID.Someone I know had this happen and I was able to sign in usingmy Apple ID. After a call to Apple Support and then being elevated to a tier 2 support person, it turned out it was a problem with their Apple ID. It took the software engineers 3-4 days to fix the problem. When calling Apple, make sure you tell them it is an Apple ID problem so you don't get charged.

You can also try signing in on another device/computer. There have been a couple of posts where people's device/computer was blocked. You will need to contact Apple for that problem also.

Hi guys

Thanks very much for your help, my daughter telephoned Apple support and the problem was her Apple ID had been blocked from registration for Messages and FaceTime they had no idea why this had happened bearing in mind it’s her first Apple device and the user ID she had chosen has never been used before. They put it down to a glitch in the registration process.

Once again thanks very much for your help

Thanks for your reply, I am sure we have been through all the recommendations as outlined in the support documents you provided links to

Can I ask a stupid question, does she have to have an iPhone for the iMessage, FaceTime to work on her MacBook?

She can sign into her new Apple ID on the website no problem it’s just iMessage and FaceTime will no active and it’s been over 36hrs since She first tried.

Thanks again
