Voice memo auto play

Hundreds of people having this problem. Apple finally gave me the link to you reporting this issue directly to them. They don’t appear to read forums. Contact http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and let them know of this issue. Everyone needs to do this.

If you click on Voice Memos which is in the “Settings” (gear icon), you can turn off all kinds of stuff… but that won’t stop the memos from coming.

You pretty much have to shut off Bluetooth and then it should stop for that round. But as soon as you re-connect to Bluetooth they’ll probably start again.

I have found that if you access another Voice memo (you don’t even have to play it, just click another one...) the first one should stop and then you’re good… It’s a workaround that I don’t appreciate having to do, but it beats all my private thoughts screaming through the speakers.

You should also be able to play some downloaded music and that will stop it too. Good luck!

not to hijack this but the same thing is happening to me.

I do not use Carplay, the voice memos are playing over the car stereo and its connecting via bluetooth.

In my case, its almost impossible to stop it because my car seems to think its a phone call so i cant just turn the stereo off or switch to lets say FM while a call is in progress.

I cant open the voice memo app and turn it off because the app isnt even open. When i try to pause the memo from the home screen it just starts again.

This is extremely frustrating, any help would be great!

Yep, I have the same issue with IOS 12 in my wife's car. Didn't happen with IOS 11.

It plays the memo through the car stereo as if its a phone call and wont stop until you disconnect the bluetooth and then it just plays it on the phone.

The Car stereo is the Seat branded Infotainment VW offering if that helps any one!

Currently having to turn off bluetooth which is far from ideal!

I’m having the exact same problem! Automatically starts playing, shows it as phone call on my car screen, and if I disable Bluetooth, it plays over phone. Most aggravating!!!

Would be nice if they would fix this glitch quickly!!!

Ok so I’ve sorted mine out. First of all it appears that until you’ve played some music on the phone When Bluetooth is connected it just auto plays the vice memos. Now I’ve played and streamed music(did this from the phone as Car interface is locked in A “call”) the issue is gone. Once I did that I found a setting in the car that auto played on connecting! I guess the change is that iOS 13 defaults to voice memos not music!

To summarise, stream some music over Bluetooth and the problem goes away.

Sorry but playing music only solves this irritating problem temporarily. I have the same issue with my Toyota Yaris car stereo. I bought the iPhone XS Max and every time I get in my car my voice memos start playing through my stereo. This is incredibly embarrassing if I have a passenger. I have reached the point where I’m going to uninstall the app and lose my saved and precious memos. Come on, Apple. Sort this out. It has been over a month.

Sorry I forgot to say that it is impossible to get the voice memos to stop playing unless I play music. Even with the app closed the voice memos still play on loop through my car stereo system. It’s ridiculous.

I have the same issue. I did not have it before. I have iphone X, 12.0.1 os. I recently recorded couple voice memos and I can’t stop it playing on my car connected via bluetooth. It just loops indefinitely. No way to stop. This is crazy. Voice app is not even open. I open app to stop but it starts again. Nothing works.

I finally had to delete the app off my phone (and lose precious recordings that can never be replaced). It was IMPOSSIBLE to stop my very personal voice memos from playing without switching off either my iPhone or my car engine, and I kind of need my car engine to get places. Thanks for nothing, Apple.

I have the same issue with the WORLDS MOST ADVANCED OPERATING SYSTEM. 😂 I own over a dozen apple products. This is the most frustrating bug ever (Feature according to Apple) 😂

Please use a third party recording app. Apple is righteous and calling it a feature. They may not change this anytime soon.

Thank you very much. I have reinstalled the app and done this and recorded an "unembarrassing" voice memo as a test in case it still plays in my car. Sadly, all my precious voice memos have been lost in the process of me being forced to delete the app.

I have a new iphone 8 plus with the latest updates and a Toyota Rav4 2017 with Bluetooth conection to my car radio. The voice memos are playing nonstop. Unless I open the app and chose a diferent message, its the same memo in a loop. The app is not even open so I don’t have a option to close it. This is so annoying and it’s “driving” me crazy.

I have a Subaru Outback. I went to the Bluetooth settings and disconnected my phone as an audio device without disconnecting it as a telephone. And this stopped the problem of voice memo auto playing.. however it’s only short lived till the time you use other app like google map then it connects automatically to car’s BT and voice memo starts to play again.

A very frustrating situation indeed.
