When my iPhone Xs is at max volume during phone calls I often hear a high pitched “buzzing” or “crackling” sound coming from the earpiece when the person on the other end of the call is talking.
Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?
I am using the developer betas and sending them feedback constantly about the issue.
The most annoying part is that even the default ringtones like “Opening” will crackle a bit at maximum volume from the earpiece.
To replicate the issue even better, go on YouTube and listen some piano music at maximum volume, it will crackle horribly.
Yes, the issue was present on iPhone 8 Plus also and was fixed with a software update and the same could be done on our XS’s if Apple will realize this is a widespread issue.
They just need to tone down a certain frequency and it won’t affect the maximum volume at all.
If enough people will provide feedback to Apple, i’m certain this will be sorted quickly.
Is anyone here in contact with Apple support?i mean providing data and logs and... Or be in contact with high level supports or engineers? I want to know that they know this issue exists or not. Every day this noise issue is killing me. Totally unacceptable for a company like apple and a phone like this which costs this amount of money. Because of this issue i might migrate to some android counterparts.
I contacted support myself. They just dully noted the issue!
Wow,and yet they don't care! I sent an email to appleinsider, macrumors,phonearena to see what happens. It's not just during calls it's system wide, with specific sound frequencies, piano music and some apps like telegram when a new message arrives when you are in chat with that person, they need to tune the earpiece i don't know why they don't acknowledge this issue like iPhone 8.
Nearly 300 people here said me too! And no body cares.
This is becoming ridiculous already for the price we pay for these premium devices.
Oh and on top of that Apple keeps removing my comments here where i encourage others to report the problem via their own website!
I keep reporting the issue myself through the developers beta i have installed on my device and through their feedback form on Apple website.
The fun part is this is a much bigger issue and yet the 10 second stutter! Goes viral! And no media reacts to something like this, i sent them the news and proof,yet none of them cares. Maybe time for changing platform
Hi guys, I’m having the same ‘buzzing’ issue.I have changed 2nd IPhone XS as my 1st unit had battery issue after 2days usage and they both have the same ‘buzzing’ problem. May I know why until now I don’t see any replies or explanation from Apple? Really disappointed!
Nope, me and some of my friends who have xs series are really disappointed with Apple, if their next update doesn't resolve this issue this will be my last apple device. I'm changing my ecosystem! To others
Same problem also still exists for me on 12.2. It's my second XS and still same issue. I have a support case open since OCTOBER 2018!!! My personal contact person does not respond anymore since 3 weeks. Very very disappointing how apple treats its customers.
I will not give up and keep you guys updated.
Today I have contacted Apple again to further escalate my support case. I should get new information by the end of next week...
We just have to stress this topic even more...I will definitely not accept it

No, there seem to be several different problems all incorrectly described as “me-too”. This thread is a mess which has lived beyond its useful life.
i think that it is time to admit that nothing will be done. should there be some solution, it would have been done already. i wonder how all of xou people are still waiting 7 months from the release, for dolution. time to change mobile phone.
I just bought the iPhone X instead of ax’s after hearing how similar they are and I’m disappointed in the quality of the “new” phone. I thought I was upgrading from my 7, but I’d rather have my old phone back. Every time I talk to someone on speaker all I can hear is an annoying buzz when they talk! Quite annoying seeing as this is an “upgrade” ha. Hope apple fixes this issue or ill be leaving apple behind in future phone purchases!
Hi, 2019 on F.W. 12.3.1 and suddenly I get this loud static/screeching out of the top speaker on my XS. Any sound I play on any app results in this loud static/screeching sound. Calls work normally but not on loud speaker.
That thingy inside is a sensor if I’m correct, i have it on my iphone 6s and 7 it’s ok! But recently appeared problem with my front ear piece speaker... when i call someone i have this blown out disortion type sound i barey
can understand what they are saying.... and i cant find answer snywhere..
Just to update, the problem still persists a year after the phone was released. Sometimes it feels as if it has lessened. On some calls it is as bad as before. I think apple has tried to mitigate the issue by changing something in the tones. Sometimes i feel as if Apple has removed some frequencies of sound from the earpiece, which causes the issue to be less noticeable. All in all, this has been really frustrating. The most expensive phone in my country couldnt even get phone calls right. Something even my dad's mid range Nokia phone handles like a champ. Shame on Apple. I will be selling my XS and opting for a Samsung or Oneplus.
Answering to myself. I upgraded to 11 Pro and Call quality is from other planet, absolutely perfect and solid, theres none buzz or crackle even at max volume. Doesnt miss my XS at all, im super happy now.
