Bluetooth not working on IPhone XS

I just upgraded to the new iPhone XS, and the Bluetooth on my phone won't discover my devices, including a Fitbit and a portable speaker. I've tried all the troubleshooting for previous problems related to Bluetooth issues listed for the IPhone X and IPhone 8 via Apple--ie, restarting the Bluetooth on the phone, restarting all the devices, resetting network settings, making sure my Bluetooth devices are discoverable, etc. Are others having this problem? Is there a solution I am missing?

Follow the tips here:

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I believe both iOS 11 and iOS 12 supported Bluetooth 5.0, but that doesn't mean there isn't a new incompatibility.

Same Iphone 8 with latest IoS works in all cars but the XS does not work in my Audi TTS or my wifes VW Polo both rather new ones.

Since those are both Volkswagen Group vehicles you may want to check with your dealer to see if any Bluetooth updates have been issued for your cars' entertainment systems.

Also, remember to delete all pairings from both the phone and the vehicle, then re-pair.

This is not helpful at all... nobody has a solution?.. Not even apple? This is a $1500 phone and a $billion company.. and this is the best comment apple can recommend?? This means nothing to anybody with this problem..

Apple expects us to pay $1000+ and we expect phones that work.

The person who posted that doesn't work for Apple. He's a user (a very helpful user at that), just like you and me. He provided a support article from Apple in the hopes it contained something you may not have thought of. With so many different systems out there, there is no one answer. It takes troubleshooting to figure out why a device won't connect.

Most of us don't have any issues with Bluetooth and iPhone Xs. I certainly don't and haven't since day 1 with my phone. What are you trying to connect to and what steps have you taken to get connected?

I’ve followed the directions on that link. And I looked up other ways and get the same thing.. my phone is 4 days old and has been searching for Bluetooth since I got it. I did troubleshooting multiple times and turning off Bluetooth on my phone for 30 sec ect. I’m trying to hook it up to my car. And my car finds the phone but the phone doesn’t find my car. My I phone 7 finds it just fine.

Yes, I called Apple many times. They even swapped my new phone out. My problem continues. My X max phone won’t connect to my Mercedes GLC. THe car is update. I have tried everything possible with the phone. My sons have x phones and they connect. My husband has a 7 and it connects. This is a horrible problem. I wish I had kept my 6 plus. It’s very frustrating. The 12.1 update didn’t solve the problem. Either did renaming my phone or registering it or deleting the other phones in the car. Nothing works.

Then this should have been recommended some time ago. Restore your from and NOT from backup. Take it back to it's just out of the box new state. Sign in with your Apple ID. Try to connect to your car. If you can, there is something that was contained in the backup causing this issue. You'll then need to move things back from the cloud, like Apps, Contacts, Photos, Messages, and reset up your mail boxes. Make sure you are saving everything to the cloud before you restore the phone.

Unfortunately I have done that 3 times. It doesn’t change a thing. The phone won’t connect. In fact the phone won’t connect to my brand new desktop MAC. The phone has serious issues. Apple girl thru the 1-800 line was able to see my desktop acreen thru a site she had me login and saw that the x max phone would t connect to my desktop. I believe It’s got to be a known problem.

Yes, the apple store replaced my x max phone that I bought at AT&T with a brand new x max. The problem continues. Idk what phone you have but you are lucky. If you read this thread you will see that other people also have a problem connecting. Maybe you don’t personally know anyone. It is a legitimate problem. Many people have written on this forum with the same complaint as me. It’s a very frustrating problem. Imagine driving in a big city and not being able to use your phone......

I have the same phone as you. Initially I dealt with the apple people via the 1-800 line. Eventually I dealt with a woman on the east coast. She was more helpful but it is my understanding there is no fix for this. I am hoping a future update will solve the problem. I may look into some sort of aftermarket blue tooth device to get this problem solved.

The advisor I’m speaking to now is so senior that they actually called me unprompted after taking over the case from the other senior advisor I was speaking with. He was from AppleCare outreach support. I’ve given up and bought a device to work around the issue that Apple won’t even acknowledge to me when I speak with them (I don’t expect a public acknowledgement).
