Bluetooth not working on IPhone XS

I just upgraded to the new iPhone XS, and the Bluetooth on my phone won't discover my devices, including a Fitbit and a portable speaker. I've tried all the troubleshooting for previous problems related to Bluetooth issues listed for the IPhone X and IPhone 8 via Apple--ie, restarting the Bluetooth on the phone, restarting all the devices, resetting network settings, making sure my Bluetooth devices are discoverable, etc. Are others having this problem? Is there a solution I am missing?

Follow the tips here:

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I believe both iOS 11 and iOS 12 supported Bluetooth 5.0, but that doesn't mean there isn't a new incompatibility.

My Bluetooth works, it just won’t connect to my car’s Bluetooth more than once or twice without failing. It connects to my Bose Bluetooth headphones and my Anker external Bluetooth speaker, just not my car stereo.

I bought this gadget from Amazon and now my phone connects to it instead of my car (the device plugs into the aux jack in my car so the audio is still routed through through my car stereo and comes out of my car’s speakers).

It’s not ideal, but it’s a good enough work-around.

You claim you don't know anyone having problems, and yet everyone (with an Xs phone) has consistent problems with certain manufacturers. Roughly 30% of the people at my job (~60) have their iPhone Xs working with their car. Do you have many friends with iPhone Xs? 😉

It's very rude to come to this thread where people have said over and over again that they've tried all the suggestions you are making, that they are working in depth with Apple support, have spent hours collecting logs on these problems... and then sound off like it's not really a problem.

There are real problems with certain car manufacturers built-in radios and the iPhone XS/Max ONLY. They've been proven time and time again. Please stop insulting us.

Sorry if you don't like to hear from someone who isn't experiencing the same issue you or some others are having. There's nothing rude with letting people who might pop into this thread know that NOT all Xs or Xs Max users have Bluetooth issues. And yes, I know many now who have either the Xs or Xs Max who have no Bluetooth connectivity issues.

And, if you read my posts, I was actually trying to help the poster with their issue.

I'm not insulting anyone. If you took it that way, it's on you. And I never said it's not a problem for anyone who is having I'm sure a very real issue with Bluetooth. But this also has happened with every new generation of iPhone released. And it's exasperated by the many different systems, apps, cars, head units etc., these phones need to connect with. There will always be a fraction of users who have these issues.

That doesn't make it not real. Nor does it make it universal.

If you are trying to sync your Apple Watch like me, here’s the fix:

On the Apple Watch itself, tap settings and hit reset. It will then connect to the xs max via Bluetooth and all will be well. When I got to my car, after doing that...I just hit sync on my phone under Bluetooth and the car matched the code and it works well now. Hope this helps!

My XS would not maintain a connection to my Watch (series 3) or my car. I solved both by doing the following:

1) Reset Network Settings on my XS, and reboot.

2) Rename the phone to something new, reboot.

3) Reset my watch, re-pair with phone.

4) My car requires you to pair a phone via the hands-free system (on the steering wheel) rather than the head unit. If you pair via the head unit, it forgets every time the car starts. Every time I get a new phone I forget this and have to re-learn it.. 😝 It was the car's fault.

Now everything works perfectly.

Has everyone in this thread called AppleCare and reported this problem directly to Apple? If not, PLEASE report the issue to Apple directly at 800-692-7753.

They don’t read these forums, so please report this issue directly to them. Over a thousand people have come to just this one thread with this issue, but if no one calls Apple to tell them about it, in their eyes this problem doesn’t even exist because they haven’t heard about it.

Please call them. Everyone call them.

Thanks

My Xs does not connect to my car either. I’ve spoken to Apple multiple times and their reaction is like a deer in headlights. They think it’s probably my car. Nope. I’ve restored to factory settings, reset network settings, unpaired, repaired, even replaced my SIM card which should have absolutely nothing to do with Bluetooth. etc. There’s nothing else I can do that I know of. It’s so frustrating because my iPhone 7 worked perfectly. Come on Apple.

Not sure if this will help everyone but it worked for me!!! 😁 I couldn’t get my new xs to pair with my car bluetooth... finally and luckily I still had my 7 plus, I opened it to Bluetooth, it was scanning for I it and I tapped “forget this phone”... then I opened my xs bluetooth, it took a while then a number popped up, I tapped yes and voila!!! It worked! Good luck to all! Good thing I still had my old phone! 👍-1F3FB;

Feel free.

That's why Apple offers a return period; they can't guarantee that an iPhone will work for you, and so you can return it if for some reason it doesn't. I have used my Xs Max without any issues in three different rental cars as well as my own over the past two weeks with no issues whatsoever.

what can i do? i bought the iphone xs max in the US and i live i Chile, yes we have premium reseller with service area but they don’t accept my model ( a1921) , i don’t understand why apple cannot replace my phone , is to much expensive for the company? i don’t think so. The only solution apple gave me was to travel back to US... unbelievable...

Dec 14, 2018 2:07 PM in response to maxChile

That's precisely it; Apple devices are designed for the country in which they are sold (and the networks there.)

Apple warranties are also only good in the country in which they were purchased, and the same is true for most other companies as well.

For example, if you purchase most any camera in Europe, you cannot get warranty work done in the US, you have to send it back to Europe.
