Since 12.0 the content of clipboard gets automatically erased after about an hour (or longer) after copy/cut and you can't paste what you copied/cut anylonger.
Strange thing is that this bug has not been fixed in subsequent releases dispite reports from the users.
It looks like this was a new feature that apple was trying to add to iOS so that the users can set the options dealing with content of clipboard for privacy reasons.

Untill it's fixed, user has to continually copy/cut the content they want to save in clipboard. It's a pain.

I and others have reported this bug many times ever-since. However, this bug remains in subsequent releases. No comment has been given by Apple. There's no justification for it.
If it's a new privacy feature, It won't help privacy, it's just a nuisance. It definitely needs to be fixed.
Not a chance. Go to any website that uses Disqus as their comment engine. Touch any word as you always could. Then try dragging either blue dot handle to expand out to the corner of the text you want to copy. It immediately jumps back to one letter and stops. Other sites like typepad will sorta work, but the cursor try’s to race off the edges of the column and grab stuff in the sidebar. Totally lame.
You have to put your finger on the text you want to copy and hold it there for about 3 seconds. Then the option to copy will pop up with the reaction buttons.

This is aggravation on an EPIC scale. I work in a facility that requires you to log onto a network that is only good for 24hrs. Each day you have to REGISTER. Yesterday I was able to COPY N PASTE the password from the page that is automatically generated. My phone updated to this CRAP that is IOS 12 last night and can no longer. Come to find out about 3K other IDIOTS in this facility, like myself, are having this issue - adding 5minutes, now I have go to my office, write down this 15 character password, hope like **** I get the 0 and O's right... ***..... #APPLEIPHONE ***** BIGG TODAY.
Same here, im using iphone 5s , and for me what happen is i can simply copy some text and then go to another app (or the same app) and paste that text and that works just fine , but lets say i try to paste again (which always worked before with every single ios i had before) it just doesnt work , and what i mean is that the paste option doesn't even show anymore, so i'd have to go copy the text again and then back to paste it again !! i hope there is a fix for this silly bug ( or whatever it's) .

I've noticed something similar in Safari on the iPad mini 2, but only for certain web sites (Apple Forum is one of them) and in certain situations (when replying to posts, ie. in editor mode).

I have the same copy paste problem. After IOS 12.1 update on my iPhone XS most of the time the copy paste dont seem to be working. Even a copy from test massage and paste on the keypad for phone number is not working.
I stopped by an Apple store and had a smart young associate help produce a very concise trouble ticket that then was send in on the store’s behalf. Hopefully that will get some coder’s attention without their having to guess how to replicate the problem.
Same, defect 12.1 worsens every day: cannot copy-paste anything on iPad or iPhone for hours at a time. Nothing fixes it, not restart, screen cleaning, nor shutdown for various intervals. Calls to Apple tech get only denials of the failed copy-paste function and headache-inducing runarounds with ZERO explanation or apology much less valid technical support and SOLUTION. Disgusting, especially bad on worsening Facebook pages.
