IOS 12 copy paste problem

Same here....

Call me crazy but....I swear I just saw my Twitter, Notes and Messages icons flashing/blinking on their own while my phone was sitting and charging.

Notes and Twitter are the apps where I noticed that my "paste" was not working.

Once again. Apple takes a good thing and trows it in the trash.

Copy Paste clearly broken after IOS 12 update/.

Major pain for me due to using the same copied info onto many places.

I the Note 9 is looking better and better every update.

My problem is earlier in the sequence. On my 7 iPhone w/12.01 and next to smallest text size, I can just barely select a block of text. Unlike earlier versions, it wants to wander sideways and drift off the column in the middle of a website center column (in Safari). Carefully adjusting the page to keep the cursor in the middle helps, but when you are at the top or bottom of the text selection desired, it will still want to wander off left/right.

Now, on my wife's big 7 phone (12.01) with the largest text size selected, you can get one word highlighted and then when you try to drag one of the selection bars up or down the column, it reverts to ONE LETTER -- ONLY. That's it! No work around.

Later Apple will come back . Introducing a new feature.. Copy paste. Now you can copy and paste. First ever on an iphone. $20 phone is having that facility. If you want to copy paste a number on your dial pad.. You just cannot do it. That is the way things are working in Apple. Still we buy it . That is there edge and we are dump idiots.

I concur with your difference with different websites. The text size may have been a false factor. I think it is the specific behavior of certain sites. Some will go from word to single letter and some will race to the edges. I was able to get most of a paragraph to highlight by pressing hard with my thumb, but could never clean up the corners. Really lame.

Fully agree, but prior to 12.1 I'm sure it only occurred on this forum, but I've just tried to edit a quote on another sites forum, and the same unpredictable jumping occurs, so for me text selection in Quoting is impossible (that's on my iPad, don't have issue on X because can't find out how to "quote" in a reply yet, doesn't appear to be an option). But text selection is no issue in the main body of the reply (ie what I'm typing), I can select from a word or anything upwards in either direction and that applies to both iPad and X.

With respect to the title of this discussion, when selecting the text in the main body of a reply I have the copy option, and if I go to compose an email under the Mail App that "copy" is still available to paste. It appears for me to work on both iPad and X.

So in brief, I haven't lost the ability to copy/paste, I just can't control what I would like to select (under certain circumstances).

I have iOS 12.1 on iPad Pro, still having copy and paste issues, works sometimes, often not. I have to transfer booking details from my email to calendar, including street address phone numbers etc, really frustrating, that I have to do it long hand instead of c&p.

This is still going on months later, it’s absurd! You’d think a simple copy/paste function would work, it used to. What can they have possibly done to change this? I can’t even leave my iPad for ten minutes and come back and paste within safari, from a copy made in safari!

Do us all a favour Apple and get this sorted please!

Just bought a new iPad and it has this (or a closely related) problem. I have a piece of text I use a lot and on iOS 10 I could copy it once and it would stay in the clipboard until I replaced it, for weeks if I didn't copy anything new. Now it stays on the clipboard a few minutes at most. Driving me nuts.

Same problem for me on new iPad. And I can’t select what I want , it goes to one letter. And having even problems to get the cursor in or between the words ...

When I touch in a word to get the cursor, it doesn’t work at all or it works but when I finish, the word gets selected in light red and similar words are suggested. Then difficult to get cursor after the last word ... Hope there comes a solution quick.

I have been having copy/paste issues in IMessage since the iOS 12 updated, not only that the clipboard isn’t working right, I will have a link saved and then go to another app to paste and it’s gone, iMessage is one of the reasons I like iPhone so much, I’m up for upgrading next month, I hope they fix it, I don’t know I have an Android phone for my business line, but I it’s not as secure, I have fixed many issues on my own, I can customize it just as I like, I can easily hack OS on androids, which you learn on a video online, so Apple just fix the **** issue, at least release the changes you made to iMessage you did not list on updates, I hope everyone will soon have this issue fixed, I do have faith in apple, don’t let us down!

I’ve had the exact same issue and it started when I had my iPhone 7. It was fine for a while but then. Sometime after I got it the exact same situation as you describe started. Apple gave me a rolacement phone..... and the same issue happened so I thought maybe it was malware in my back up. I boitlght anew XR recently and started it as a new phone. Problem still exists. 🤷‍♂️ I’m perplexed by this

when I try to cut and paste a text message, I get some stupid special characters. A heart, thumbs up, stupid stuff like that. Why can I not cut and paste. This is a business phone. I'm not some high schooler.

How do you turn off these special characters when trying to cut and past text messages. I do NOT want to EVER see them. EVER, get it, EVER. I want cut and paste every time. EVERY TIME. I don't get it to work any time. Always STUPID heart and thumbs up on my business phone. I'm not in high school. I'm 63 years old. This is just stupid.
