Iphone Xs max earpiece speaker not working

I did a restore via iTunes last night. Mine hasn’t failed yet today so I am keeping my fingers crossed. If it fails, the phone will be returned.

I was trying to avoid that but I’ll have to try it. It’s to much louder with both speakers working properly.

Seems like a software probablem more than anything else.

Hoping apple is aware...

Turning mine off and on fixed it.

I also restarted my phone but the issue came back the next day. i restarted it again and i am waiting for it to stop again.

Seems to be triggered by my phone connecting to Bluetooth. After I disconnect from my car the top speaker stops working. Not every time but that seems to do it.

I'm having the same issue. Playing music, videos, etc. only results in sound through the BOTTOM speaker. Doing a soft reset fixes the issue, but the problem popped back up.

I'm sure they're aware. But every person who has this issue needs to provide feedback to Apple via this link. The more who do, the more aware Apple will be: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Since a reboot brings the speaker back every time, my money's on this being a software issue, not hardware.

My first Xs Max failed the hardware test. The speaker, mic and receiver all failed. You can take it to the Apple store and they can run a hardware test.

Someone on another thread mentioned that it’s just hanging onto Bluetooth and all you need to do to resolve the issue is turn Bluetooth on and off. Can’t wait to try that next time this happens.

I’ve also had this issue with the regular XS. I found a temp fix by resetting all phone settings (although the issue returns after a few days). It is pretty inconvenient though.

I did that on my 3rd phone and it has been working for a week.
