iPhone XS Max lightning port charging issue

Just want to add one thing, for my phone black 256g max, sometimes even the screen is on and I plugged in my cable it won’t recognize as well. Any one has the same issue? I discover this happens more frequently when I use my power bank instead of Apple cable to charge.

Hi vedanthk this is my issue too , I’ve sent videos to apple for them to pass on to there technical team , hoping to hear a response ASAP though I’ve been told it could be a week. Though I’m still unsure if this is caused by hardware. Could be defective batches. Or most people with a iPhone use wireless charging if you try it first time on a wireless pad it works without a issue. As such will never notice this issue unless they have to plug it in which could be months.

I have the same exact issue at first I did think anything of it, but now the issue has become more and more noticeable. Where I would plug my iPhone XS Max 64 GB in for a charge and the phone would not recognize that it is charging until I unplug the cord and reinsert the cord. Apple needs to fix this issue as soon as possible because we did not spend top dollar on a non functional device.

Don't know why but my iPhone 5s is also behaving weirdly when it comes to charging. It won't connect at first attempt. I've to flip the cable and try reinserting it, then only it gets connected. Hope so it is a software bug. 😟

I am running 12.1 public beta since last night and haven’t been able to reproduce the problem on my XS Max 256. I will keep testing but I think Apple knows about this and the least they should do is notify users because this could put people in a real bind who depend on a charged device.

I have tried that setting on 12.0, and it does not help. It doesn’t even take an hour for the charging to be unresponsive. it’s literally 5 minutes or less and the device will not charge. Haven’t been able to replicate the issue on 12.1 public beta.

One of the many reasons I dislike online threads.... Users do not read all postings and post the same "solution(s)" that do not fix the problem(s). I sent an email to Tim Cook with a link to this thread and to the Unbox Therapy video. I highly doubt he will see/read my email but it was worth a shot..

I don't think this is a software problem because I have a 64gb gold Xs Max and my step brother has the same on and we got ours on launch day and we dont have the issue. I do usually charge my phone with wireless charging he doesn't but i've tried charging my phone with the cable i couldn't recreate the problem

I found about this issue after Unbox Therapy made a video on it, I have a gold xs max 64gb, i tired everything on this thread to re-create the issue, i charge with the 29w usb-c fast charger, didnt lift it, left it for like 10 mins, plug it in, and it works, i have not been able to re-create this issue at all. Maybe it is a hardware issue? if it was software would it not affect all of us

its like people don't read, i know its coming from good intentions but please read, people have stated that even with doing this, they have encountered the issue, i've spent the last hour trying to reproduce the issue on my phone, fortunately to no avail. I hope it doesnt happen to me, the phone costed $1200 after tax, i'd be tight

I know.. At least a dozen users have posted this fix but it does not work for all users, if at all.. There are 11 pages of postings, it doesn't take that long to go through it. Even the first few pages have at least one person posting the same "fix".. Society has become so lazy that no one can take the time to read..

I don’t have an iphone XS but a 7 plus and I’m experiencing the same problem :(. The phone recognizes the charge when my screen is on but when it goes to sleep, it stops charging. It started to happens right after ios 12 update.

Not to muddle this thread but I have a new iPhone 8 which I tried charging wirelessly overnight and noticed not charging once the phone is idle on the wireless pad. I don't know if this is more to do with the wireless charger, the phone moving during the night because of a taptic notification, or potentially this is an iOS 12 software bug. Any insight would be helpful.

I am having the same issue with my XS Max. It does not charge after i plug in the cable. Sometimes i have wake it up or even take the cable out and plug it again. I hope apple recognizes this problem and fixes it soon. This was my first iphone and i am disappointed.

Cult of Mac and Patently Apple also did news articles on this issue as well. It's spinning a bit more and users with this issue are getting more support. Apple will need to say something about it (hopefully) after the weekend. It's ridiculous that this issue made it into the public release. If it's a software issue, there were multiple betas for iOS 12 and it still hit the final release... Why have a beta program? Was this a known issue that developers found and reported it but Apple didn't get it in time? Did Apple ignore it? Our is it something that developers missed because it's a hit and miss issue?
