iPhone XS Max lightning port charging issue

This exact issue has been happening with my iPad Pro 10.5 since iOS 12 update. Trying to find other devices having similar issues other than iPhone XS & MAX. iOS 12.1 beta does NOT fix this issue.

Just found out about this issue, so I tried it (with screen off) and yep: Not charging if I plug in the lightning cable to charge my iPhone Xs Max with the screen off. Otherwise, if the screen is on, unlocked or not, it will charge (so far). Bizarre. Anyway, here's hoping Apple addresses this soon.

I feel this is a software issue. My new iPhone Xs does the same thing, if I plug it in with the lightning cable, and charger, it occasionally won't recognize the charger, yet no such problem happens when I use the wireless charging. I even went to the Genius Bar where no problem was found with my lightning port.

The reseller did, which the second pin from the left is missing and he advised that this isnt covered by the standard warranty and advised about the replacement cost

The same guy advised me a few months ago that this is also the reason my lightning connector headphones/dongle arent working either

I noticed that except my iPhone XS Max, happens to several devices I updated to iOS 12. It happened to my iPad air 1 and my wife's X, so apparently it is a software issue of the iOS12. I really hope that today or this week we can have some news or an update from Apple, in other times this could have been already settled. At least they should say something, make a statement.

I noticed this on my GFs Ipad Pro 12'9 when i upgraded to IOS 12, i thought it was just a problem with our charger! Tested it on with 3 other chargers and this issue is the same. I have to wake the Ipad up and then put in the charger cable or wake it after putting in the charger.

No problems however with my Iphone 7 or my GF's Iphone 8 plus that runs IOS 12.

Restored from iCloud backup. Been about 1 hour since and I haven't had any problems. I'll post an update tonight or tomorrow to let everyone know how things go.

My XS Max as a wiggle once my lightning cable is plugged in. I've noticed it sometimes won't charge unless its making the proper contact. Apple has agreed to replace the phone.

Hi Everyone, i have found the problem under Face ID in settings scroll to the very bottum and enable USB accessories it has fixed my problem and i hope it fixes yalls

Back up your device and try the 12.1 beta. I would really like for someone else to be able to say they don’t have the charge issue anymore. 😁

YALL, I AM SOLVING YOUR PROBLEMS 😂. Settings > Face ID and Passcode > Turn off USB Accessories.

Maybe there is a USB accessories mode turned on in Passcode settings?

If you have an iPad, try the 12v charger the iPad brings instead of the 5v the phone brings.
