I have an old 32 bit app - EyeTV - for watching TV on my iMac. I understood that this would still work (with a warning) under Mojave but it now crashes with a brief dialog warning about 32 bit apps. The hardware is a 2017 5k iMac and an EyeTV 200 box.
Is anyone else still using EyeTV software with Mojave?
I have the solution (at least for me). Hopefully this will help someone else...
I was watching a video podcast from MacBreak Weekly and they were discussing changes in Mojave and how some apps now need special settings to work. This led me to a fix for my 1Password application that was misbehaving and I wondered if I could find a solution to my EyeTV problem in the same general area.
So I went off to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and clicked on the Privacy tab. I scrolled down to the Camera item in the sidebar and saw EyeTV listed there but unchecked. This is to “Allow apps below to access your camera”.
Now just why EyeTV would need to access my camera is a mystery to me but as a test, I unlocked the padlock, then put a checkmark beside the EyeTV item and tried to launch the EyeTV application. It came up properly and I could watch my TV shows. Then I quit EyeTV, went back and unchecked this box and tried EyeTV again and it crashed as before.
So I would love to know why EyeTV needs to access my camera, but at least I have found the solution.

same problem here. As soon as I connect my eyetv 610 to my iMac 5k the app crashes immediately. There isn't even a 32-bit warning. When I disconnect eyetv 610 the app starts as expected. As soon as I connect the hardware again the software crashes ... Tried to reach out to Geniatech via mail, phone and Twitter ... until now no response yet ...
Yes, this is exactly what I find too. I have contacted Geniatech and have a ticket number but their latest response is that it "seems to be a problem with the hardware" while admitting they have had the same results with another product. I pointed out that the hardware was working perfectly right up to updating from High Sierra to Mojave.
In the past you could use your EyeTV hardware to digitize old VHS cassettes or stuff like that. There the hardware was handled as an video input device. I think that’s a surviving code snipple from the past days. And as Apple changed the Security settings in its latest releases this part of codes was not handled „correctly“ by Geniatech. Interesting that a friend got a popup asking for access to the camera ... I was NEVER asked that ...
EyeTV Version 3.6.9 is working fine here.
