After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot login or connect to App Store.

I am using the latest MacBook Pro 2018 version. After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot sign out, login App Store or View my account. It always show "Cannot Connect to App Store". I also upgrade my iMac to MacOS Mojave, my iMac does not have this issue.

How can I fix this issue on my 2018 MacBook Pro?

Thank you

I found a solution that worked for me. It took me two steps, and all credit to BocaBoy in this thread: Re: Mojave installation fails: duplicate App Stores, can't sign in with Apple ID (Macbook Pro, Late 2016)

  1. Disable System Integrity Protection:
    1. Reboot the computer into restore mode (press command-R during startup)
    2. Select Terminal from the Utilities... menu
    3. Enter csrutil disable and press return
    4. Restart
  2. Back up and archive the folder in /Library/Security/Trust Settings before deleting them through Terminal. I'll copy BocaBoy's instructions here for you all:

OK, I just spoke with Apple engineering and they gave me a fix for this. It worked for me and it may work for you. You must know how to use Terminal and access hidden directories with Finder in the root of your drive.

First, make SURE that you've backed up the directory /Library/Security/Trust Settings. Copy it on your Desktop or Downloads directory, or wherever you'll be able to access it.

1. Again, back up the user certificate trust settings files described above. Then, remove them with the following commands, entering your administrator password when prompted:

cd "/Library/Security"

sudo ditto -ck "Trust Settings" TrustSettingsBackup.zip

cd "/Library/Security/Trust Settings"

sudo rm *.plist

2. Attempt to sign into the App Store.

This didn't work for me until I restarted at which point I was able to log in and see all of my accumulated updates. If you're not comfortable working at the system level, DON'T do this. If you are, this may fix your problem. It did for me.

Once you're sure that you've got the App Store working, you can delete the TrustSettingsBackup.zip file as well as the backup of the Trust Settings directory.

3. Reenable System Integrity Protection by repeating step 1 but using the command csrutil enable.

After I modified the Trust Settings directory, I was able to reboot and connect to the App Store and Books Store.

Good luck, everyone!

I'm so used to letting new connections in via Silent Mode. I never thought to check the rules. Even after the Little Snitch update there was still a rule for the App Store that denied all connections, which was a conflict with the rule to allow any process to connect to the domain apple.com. I deleted the rule and now everything is working normally again. Thanks!

So, in my situation, I have a brand new MacBook Air Retina Display. It came brand new with Mojave 10.14.2 and at first boot up, I had the issue of not being able to Sign In to the Apple Store, but was able to sign into all other things like iCloud Drive and iTunes. So, my experience was not from an upgrade, but a brand new computer boot up; not sure if that is relevant or not.

I went thru this thread, any many others, and tried all of them to no avail. The deleting certian "com.apple.appstore", folders, messing with the Trust Settings folder, etc. All of them.

What did finally seem to work for me, which by the way is now after I have updated to Mojave 10.14.3 (I thought that might resolve the issue as many of you probably hoped too), was using AppCleaner.

I have version 3.5.

Launch App Cleaner and then drag and drop the "App Store.app" onto the window. If it gives you an error prompt, just open the App Cleaner Preferences and uncheck the box next to "Protect default OS X apps" and then try it again.

Once successful, it will show all of the components associated with the App Store.app.

Select all of them EXCEPT for the App Store.app and the folder /Library/Application Support. For me, they were the first two in the list. Do Not delete those.

After that, I restarted and actually performed an install of Mojave 10.14.3 over my existing one, but I did not erase or delete anything.

When I completed the installation and restarted, I was able to Sign in "FINALLY" to the App Store.

Someone may want to test whether a reinstall is needed after removing the files. I did not try that. I just went straight to the reinstallation. I hope this works for some of you.

Had a same issue and here's what helped to me. Not sure which of these steps was the actual solution, I suspect it was one of the first two:

  • remove and re-add any Apple Wallet credit cards from System Preferences -> Settings
  • uncheck "Find my mac" in System Preferences > iCloud and check it back
  • kill all processes using Activity monitor that start with "store..."
  • remove following files/folders (make a backup):

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore*

~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.binarycookies

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.apstore*

After that, restart.

Try this from my post earlier in the thread that has worked for many others.

I've tried all of the proposed solutions in this thread to no avail. Out of desperation I re-read the Apple advice at If you can't connect to the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store - Apple Support. When I got to the part about checking any third party firewalls and network filters I realized I had little snitch running. When I turned little snitch network filtering off, lo and behold, the app store came right up.

I found under unapproved rules a rule to deny outbound connection to the app store because the code signature was invalid. I also noticed that unlike the example in the apple support document, my /var/db/crls directory only contained one file names crlcache2.db. So I may either have the wrong certificate file or I am missing the correct one. But clearly the issues has something to do with an include code signature on my machine.

Hope this helps someone who knows more than I do formulate a solution.

We had exactly the same problem after we upgraded our 3 iMacs at work- I tried all the solutions mentioned here but nothing fixed the problem. Signing in with another admin account didn't solve anything, tried to delete all the files mentioned in another thread- nothing changed.. We are all connected over ethernet and this morning I disconnected the ethernet and opened up a personal HotsSpot on my iPhone- and now the App Store is back to life..! But as soon as I disconnect the WiFi connection, go back to ethernet and close the App Store- same as before. But at least we found a solution for now. Maybe that will help someone...

For me it was the proxy settings, I am using a .pac script that lies on a server for a VPN and I have to use PulseSecure as a VPN client. Under High Sierra the proxy script was only used (if it was used at all) to look up the proxy when connected to the VPN otherwise it was ignored.

This seems not be the case under Mojave. While browsers ignore the proxy setting when the .pac file hosting server is not reachable, the App Store seems to use this setting every time and can not resolve the .pac file and therefore does not connect to the App Store.

Thank you tcwan, I have a new MacBook Pro 15" which booted into Mojave 10.14.2 on initial install and had been working fine accessing everything for over a week when suddenly it began reporting unable to connect. I also had an older Mac which I had just updated. In any event your suggestion of changing the network interface worked for me, although it was in reverse. I had been using WiFi when it stopped working, I plugged an ethernet cable into my USB C hub and stopped WiFi and it began working.

Reboot doesn't seem to solve the problem either but plugging via ethernet cable continues to work.
