Apple music student subscription

Hi, ive been having trouble applying myStudent discount to my apple music. Im on EE and they offered a 6 month free trial and once that endes ive been paying for through EE. Now im a student I cant seem to apply my discount. Ive tried doing it through the Unidays app but it just says that a subscription already exists and when i try to get in through the apple muisc app the subscriptions button that is supposed to appear doesnt. I was wondering if i cancelled the subscription throught EE and started a new on throught apple maybe that would work but im worried that ill lose all my music. (I know i will lose the downloads but if the library stayed that would be fine, if that makes sense).

Your library should stay intact for a short while, when switching subscriptions, unless you stay unsubscribed for a longer period. (Best to take a couple of screenshots, just in case…)

Bundled subscriptions are not administrated in your own iTunes subscriptions listing. Ask/instruct your carrier (EE) for a cancellation. How to cancel your Apple Music subscription with EE - EE Help

The subscription will end at the regular period (next due day; not immediately).

Re-signup for Apple Music, this time through Apple.

Get an Apple Music Student subscription - Apple Support

In Apple Music subscription options, select one of {Family, Individual, Individual (Year), Student}

After selecting Student, go through the verification process as instructed, so that the Music app gets to know what UNiDAYS knows. You may have to wait out the previous subscription to end.
