An update is required to activate your iphone

Lock the screen and bottom right corner u can see that i icon in that check ur imei

I fixed in local shop they resoldered one chip that’s it imei restored. Now it’s working

Needs a new baseband chip. Software in iPhone runs checks and as in your case it is unable to see WiFi networks it gives you that message.

i've restored the phone 6 times and i have a phone that has been rendered useless all because i did the latest update 12.1 which i think is a conspiracy from apple i have a phone shop and previously all four phones were working on all four networks now they work on Fxxxxall thank you apple

Hello, I also have this problem.. My phone was working fine, is GSM unlocked to all carriers and now cannot be activated saying "An update is required to activate your iphone"....What should I do?

This is an odd update. It updates iOS 12.8.0.150, but does not change the version number. You need it to update the phone to iOS 12.
