iPhone Xs Max poor cell phone reception fix?

Had my Xs Max for a few days now. Previous phone was a X that I had for a year. As soon as I switched to this phone, my 4 bars of cell service that I always had at home and work, went to 1 or maybe 2 bars in the same locations. Now I have trouble sending messages to android users through SMS because the signals so weak. Is there a fix for this? I don’t want to own a phone that I payed this much for, that gets this bad reception.

Great news. I returned my phone to Apple prior to 14 days and they replaced it with new one out of box, logs stated I had more than normal call dropouts. New phone is fine, previous handset must have had a hardware fault. Now that’s what I call premium support. 👍

So far i have sent in a diagnostic to apple, restored my xs max, reset all network setting, and got a new sim card from At&t still have horrible LTE service. Lets not talk about 4g network because i can only make calls and text (the green text!). My calls still drop 55% of the time on LTE and 4g. I'm at the point to give back my phone and go Samsung. So much for my new watch! Apple isn't acknowledging that this is an issue. When i call its like a surprise to the tech. I escalate and get told well we may have to send you a box so you can send us the phone. What the happy **** am i suppose to do with out a phone? Ridiculous. 😕😠

Has Apple or any carriers officially confirmed there is an issue? I havent seen anything.

I switched over to Verizon, and had LTE on a cheap prepaid Android while I waited for the Xs to come out. Now with the Xs I get 2 bars LTE and random speedtests ranging from 3gb down to .10gb down. Verizons answer was to use Wifi calling in the house, however my wife was using wifi calling last night and it disconnected 3 times. I know my wifi is good to go.

It's not a Verizon issue. It is not a carrier issue. People are having the same issues with ALL carriers. I've been working with several senior advisors and have been on the phone almost constantly with Apple Support. No one knows what the "fix" is. My personal feeling is that it is an antenna issue.....either it's a bad antenna, or the software for the antenna......all I know is APPLE NEEDS TO FIX IT!!!!!

Bars/mbps numbers mean nothing. I’ve tested 6 iPhone X’s and x and 8, 8+ and I’m getting triple mbps on the XS but very poor strength. In other words, 6 mbps is equivalent to 200 mbps on LTE...... my x shows 30-35 on the down and loads everything fine, XS, 125 on the down, won’t load anything and gets warm. Shuts down. X, 8, and 8+ are stable. XS, scores triple the speed yet fails.

I've got an Iphone XR and have also noticed having only 2 bars of signal strength where my iPhone 6S would show 4. I don't have dropped calls or slower connection though. A speedtest with only 2 bars on 4G goes up to 160 Mbps download... I do notice that when I turn on the phone I start out with 4 bars which after about 30 seconds drops back to 2... I'm guessing it is probably a software thing.

My wife and I have the iphone 6s plus and since the new phone XS MAX we cant even login to FACEBOOK or even use the MARK THE SPOT by AT&T as it cant find a connection to report the issue.. What is going on here. I plugged my SIM into the iphone 6s PLUS and it works great. Went as far as resetting the phones back to factory to no avail.

By the way Apple support does not look at these forums. You all need to give feedback here

I am having the same issue. With my brand new iPhone XS Max my WiFi and Celluar reception is terrible. I have already called Apple multiple times and there seems to be no answer or fix. I have put my phone up against my old IPhone 6, 6s, and 8. The newer iPhone is much worse in speed. Most of the time I don’t even have LTE, instead 4G. When the other phones have 4 bars, my Max has only 2. Personally, I don’t know what to do. I like the phone but I will most likely return it. If it had just been my celluar speed, perhaps I’d been able to live with it, but my WiFi drops several times each hour and I can’t live with owning a 1,500 dollar device that I can’t use.
