Mac OS Mojave Scanner Not Working

Hi,

Installed Mac OS Mojave yesterday, my printer (Samsung M2070) cannot scan any kind of document. The problem is that it returns an error when I try to scan with JPEG, TIFF etc.

Anyone find a workaround? All functions of the printer work great in High Sierra.

Hi guys,

Same here: I have a Samsung C460W (basically the same as Stargoose above) and it's not scanning as it should. It does all the preview steps, scan and fails when trying to save as image (PNG, JPEG, etc.) with an error message.

If I choose PDF, it succeeds in saving a file, which is corrupted and can't be opened by any app (Preview, Acrobat or any other). It's connected via WiFi to my LAN. Prior to Mojave, it was working fine.

I've tried removing all the printers and adding again: useless.

On the other hand, using the provided software (Samsung Easy Printer Manager, v1.02.07 (2015-07-06)) the scanner works perfectly.

When will Apple release a statement/solution for this matter?

Hi,

have the same problem with my samsung C480FW. Like MikeFromReadingUK I assumed it is a permission issue. I Got a scanner error. So I shut down the fire wall. The scanner error did not appear again. Still after scanning befor opening the scanned document the scanner (or preview window, if I am using preview) closed without any comment or message.

Semms to be more than one probelm here.

No solution is in sight the propagated here If you can't print from your Mac or iOS device - Apple Support does not work ether.

Hope for some Apple solution before it gets pricy

Because it is up to the peripheral manufacturer to make sure the software required to run their product works in Windows, MacOS, etc. Neither Apple nor Microsoft has the time or personnel to test (much less write) the software for thousands of different peripherals each year. Apple (I don't know if MS does) at least works to include the software written by the manufacturers into MacOS rather than requiring you to download it from them.

Sorry, I think I replied to the wrong comment, that's why I'm posting this again as an answer to the original question.

I had a similar problem with my Epson WF 2760 and searched the web finding that this seems to be a widespread OS X problem which seems to occur when IPv6 is activated in the printer settings.

Simple solution: Deactivate it!

This just takes a few clicks, no driver search, no reinstallations or similar. It is very simple once you've found out where to change the network settings of your printer (NOT the Mac's and NOT the router's settings).

I'll describe what I did to fix my Epson:

My printer is connected to my network via WiFi, so I could access it through my browser:

- I checked the printer's IP address in my printer's network settings (my printer has a touchscreen where you can check the settings in the network status).

- Next, I accessed the IP address via my browser (Safari) - just use it as an URL.

- In the Browser, an Epson Service Center came up with a tiny little Pop-up menu on the top right which at this point said "Basic Settings" ("Grundeinstellungen" in German). Pop it up and choose "Extended Settings" ("Erweiterte Einstellungen" in German) and you get to the actual Settings with a menu on the left.

- In that Menu, I opened > Network Settings > Basic

- Then I set the DNS Settings to AUTO and DEACTIVATED IPv6 and clicked NEXT.

That's it. Scanner worked even without a restart.

Hope this might help. Good luck!

I have exactly this problem with my Samsung printer/scanner now that I have updated to Mojave. But it doesnt stop there. All my Microsoft products are saying they are not supported and Adobe Flash uninstalled itself after pressing the update button! I feel like I am being forced into Apple only products and software. Apple please stop forcing us down your route. I don't want to have to type in a password every time I access my Mac in my house. No one else has access to it. If you want to be really security conscious do more for anti virus and malware protection in your software updates. And please let me delete FaceTime!

Check and see if there are updates to the M$ products or, better yet, replace them with LibreOffice. Adobe Flash is the greatest vector of malware on the planet so delete it and use HTML 5 web browsers.

You shouldn't have to. Go to System Preferences>Users & Groups. Make sure the account you use most is listed as the "Current User", then click on "Login Options". Next, click the lock and enter your login password. Now in the right pane at the top should be a box labeled "Automatic Login" and use the drop down menu to select your account. Check any other login option boxes you wish to use, then click the lock again to lock in the changes.

Now, if you are being asked for a password when the Mac awakes comes out of a screen saver, the option should be in the "General" tab of the "Security & Privacy" control panel in System Preferences. Make sure the option "Require password [dropdown menu] after sleep or screen saver begins" is either unchecked or has the time delay you desire in the dropdown menu set. Again unlock the panel if required.

It’s not Apple that is trying to “force” you to do anything. Microsoft no longer supports Office 2011 and earlier on macOS 10.14 Mojave. Microsoft wants to force you to upgrade to Office 2019 for Mojave support. A number of people say that Office 2011 does work on Mojave for the most part but with issues. Office 2008 and earlier are definitely no go. Which version of Office do you have?

Adobe Flash IS deleted if you are running an older version of it. You just need to download and install the latest verion of Flash directly from Adobe. In fact, Adobe Flash is the ONLY plugin still allowed on macOS Mojave.

You can easily turn off password requirements in System Preferences as described by user @romad.

Your Samsung scanner needs an updated driver and it is up to Samsung/HP to supply the driver. Apple has never produced or developed its own printer drivers but gets them from the manufacturers. It appears Samsung/HP is no longer supporting their older products. Your beef is with them if you have an older printer/scanner.
