ios 12 Siri Shirtcuts Definine Variable Name

I am not a programmer but Siri Shortcuts is fun. I am having a challenge with variables. I am trying to build the Tip calculator for practices following the iOS 12 Shortcuts App: Walkthrough & Creating Your First Siri Shortcut! by Brandon Butch. The issue I have is finding the variable when setting the operand. The video shows the operand as PercentTipping but that is not listed. I can choose the "magic Variable" option and set the operand that way but I still have to rename it to PercentTipping. I read that I can attach a set variable to define the name but I don't see that in Brandon's video. So, my question is, is there an easy way to set the variable name of the script without using set variable?

Hi. When you have something defining a percentage, such as a number, you can then, when doing the calculation, click on "Magic Variable", scroll up and see a little box under the Number object (the little box will normally say something like Number -> so kinda rational), and then you tap on the Number-box to add that as the operand into your calculation object.

Hope this helps?

I tend to like using Set Variable since I can name them right then and there, and call on them later with that specific name. I've found the "use Magic Variable then rename Magic Variable to xyz" to be a very confusing thing. I mean, it saves space, but I prefer using Set Variable and Get Variable. YMMV though.
