Honda Handsfreelink Text Notifications iOS 12

The good news is that the bluebooth connection between my 2013 CR-V and iPhone6 still exists after updating the phone to iOs12.

The bad news is that, while the phone call command is still functional, there is no longer a text notification on screen in the car nor the ability to read an incoming text. Which makes the "hands free" function challenging!

I checked my "do not disturb' settings and have tried to scour the questions that have already been asked - my apologies if I've missed an already-posted solution!

Check the settings for the bluetooth link (the i from Settings Bluetooth) while connected to the car. Make sure 'notifications' is enabled. I had to turn mine back on after updating (Fiat 124 Spider.)

I have the same problem with my 2012 CR-V. I tried your suggestion and it did not solve the problem. My Honda dealer said that my firmware is up to date. The 800 line for Honda support says no update is pending and has no record of any known issue. Apple knew of the issue, specifically with CR-Vs.

The same problem occurred with my wife’s iPhone and her Toyota Highlander. The dealer upgraded the car’s firmware and texting now works.

An interesting development...

A friend has a 2016 Honda CR-Z which has the same radio as my 2015 CR-V, and an IPhone 7. His text notification has never worked.

Yesterday, out of the blue, *both* of our vehicles started generating text alerts! Neither of us did phone or app updates. Now we’re wondering if Honda has some kind of undocumented OTA update capability for these older cars? I know the 2018s have it.

Has anyone else had this issue suddenly resolve itself in the last day or two?

The iOS 12 is newer than your car is. You'll need to update the software for the CRV, also. Here's how to do that: http://owners.honda.com/vehicles/subscriptions-downloads-updates

This does not apply to the OP’s 2013 nor my 2015 - it only works for 2018 and newer Hondas. For 2013 and 2015 models, firmware is done by the dealer - and is only rarely updated, if ever.
