why can't you zoom in the contacts window?

This includes laptop and iPhone and iPad, all versions of software. I know you can increase the size of the font-- but then all font is larger. I would like to zoom when I am reading a long number, etc. on any of the devices. I thought that since Contacts is native to Apple-- it would do it. Do you see any chances of this change?
