Hi Jan,

I encountered the same issue. The solution to the problem can be found here:

Thanks for the additional information, Jan!

It sounds like you're able to relocate the apps just fine in LaunchPad, however each page will only allow four apps at a time. LaunchPad does support more apps per page than just four, so I would recommend trying the following steps. Check to see if the issue continues after each step, stopping when the issue is resolved:
  1. Quit any open apps on your Mac: macOS Sierra: Quit apps, then restart the Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off - Apple Support.
  2. Boot to safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support.
  3. Set up a new user account, and test LaunchPad there: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support.
If the issue is resolved in safe mode or a test user, the articles respective to each process provide you with steps to resolving the issue in your user account. If the issue persists in safe mode and/or a test user, please reach out to Apple Support directly: Contact Apple Support .

Cheers!

Hi, Jan!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, when accessing LaunchPad since updating to macOS Mojave, you're only seeing four apps per page. I'm happy to help!

There could be a number of reasons why the layout of LaunchPad has changed. While we may not know exactly why, we can rearrange the apps back the way you'd like them using the steps below, outlined in Use Launchpad on your Mac - Apple Support :

Organize apps

  • Arrange apps: Drag an app to a new location.
  • Create a folder: Drag an app onto another app.
  • Close a folder: Click outside the folder.
  • Rename a folder: Open a folder and click its name. Then enter a new name.

If there are apps missing from LaunchPad, you can use the same article to get steps on adding them back:

Add an app

Apps appear in Launchpad when you download them from the Mac App Store.

To add an app to Launchpad that you downloaded outside of the Mac App Store, just move the app to your Applications folder.

If the issue is something other than arranging the apps (for example you see other apps on the page, but only four have their icons loaded), or if you have issues moving and arranging the apps, don't hesitate to respond back. If you do, please just give more details on what you're seeing and what's happening when you try to add/move apps.

Enjoy your weekend!
