iphone phone app screen unresponsive in ios 12

Hello everyone just wanted to share what I performed on the device I was working with to fix the issue.

IPhone I assisted the customer with was an iPhone 6 Plus. Customer could not access the bottom tab that contained "Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad and voicemail" . But the screen will work just fine anywhere else. Now I cant promise this will fix this issue on everyone. But may help some.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. .

Yes. You need to do a soft reset of the phone. Hold the right button in until the slider comes up to turn off the phone. Then, press and hold the right and hold button down until the Apple symbol appears on the screen.

Also, if you have a voicemail that got hung up, make sure you delete it because it will lock up the app again.

Power off your phone or reboot. Go straight to phone app and delete ALL your Voice Mails. Issue goes away.

Disregard the first half of my response. Check the most recent voicemails and delete what you can and that should help.

Wife is having the same issue with her iPhone X. Rebooting or powering down phone works but not a feasible option. Have not had the issue with my 8 or the beta updates...12.1 public beta 5. Might be an option to resolve the issue.

I have the same issue. Does the same thing if I ask Siri to open the phone app for me.

I can receive calls and click on a phone number to dial. Siri can call the last number dialed and open my contacts.

This occurred after the first power cycle after the update was installed.

Hi, I am having the same issue. I am not gonna restart my phone every time that happens. We need a real fix or update for that

has there been a fix noted for this yet? same issue is occuring for me.

Hiw can we get into voicemail, if the phone locks up when we open phone app??? I have done 3 soft resets, and nothing fixes it!! I can only vall out by using SIRI!!
