ios 12.0.1

After updating to iOS 12.0.1, the bottom of my screen doesn't work, sometimes. The bottom of the screen always works. But sometimes what I touch isn't what I want to touch, but something underneath it instead. Here are some examples:

~ In the App Store, if I want to update my apps, I touch the "Updates" icon at the bottom, but it opens up the article on the main page instead (which is located underneath/behind the bottom toolbar).

~ In my text messaging, when I hit the "123" button to select numbers or punctuation in portrait mode, the letters are capitalized instead. I can only pull up numbers and punctuation by switching into landscape mode.

~ In the phonecall app, my phone is stuck on recent calls. If I touch to check my voicemail, the phone calls the phone number located underneath the bottom toolbar instead.

~ The bottom of the screen does not work in some non-Apple apps as well, like Snapchat (I can't look at memories or get the send button to work), Untappd (I have to flip the phone upside down to search for drinks), On Deck (I can't submit attendance), Facebook (I can't touch for notifications), etc.

The screen itself was working fine until I updated to iOS 12.0.1 last Tuesday. I'm still having no problems in all other areas of the screen. I'm even getting a touch signal at the bottom where the problem is. The problem is that the screen just reads things that are underneath the menu that I want.

Is there another way to do a forced restart besides the Home and Power buttons?

No, not to my knowledge, sorry.

For what it's worth I've had similar, though not quite the same issues, both after upgrading to iOs 12, and now 12.0.1. Problems with apps like bitmoji keyboard taking over messaging, then not working when I try to message after I turned the keyboard off, still shows up even though that keyboard is turned off, screen is not very responsive/intermittently responsive, very slow on Wifi (fine on cellular), very fast battery drain. When I do the hard reset the screen turns black with red stripes before going to the white screen with the apple logo. I have a 5SE.
