1. Why do this at all?

2. Why not make everyone aware that you’re going to do this?

3. Given the 128 character limit, why still allow for more than 128 characters in the text replacement phrase field within settings if it’s not going to work?

Same thing happening here. 128 characters is not enough. I RELY on text replacement to save me hours of work every day. Apple you’ve got to change it back,man! Steve Jobs wouldn’t have let this change go through. Why make an update that makes things worse? Even shortcuts with characters LESS than 128 aren’t working. Driving me nuts and costing me precious time.

Sad! However, in the meantime, what I have done is to split the phrases longer than 128 characters into different shortcuts and numbering them like ad, ad1, ad2... unfortunately for me I can’t see myself using any other phone.

There are no replacements listed there, but when I type xo it's replaced by xxxxoooo. I guess that because it's invisible it's also undeletable. Great.

My xs max have all replace text but can not use.

This is happening to me too & it’s driving me crazy! I’ve tried everything!!

Since updating to 12.1 I can no longer use text replacements. I see them in my settings but, they do not work anymore after the update in text messages. Please help.

Adralia, you’re absolutely right! That’s just whack. Why would they arbitrarily decide to limit the number of characters in an entry?

Thank you Adralia .. I couldn't figure out what was going wrong, but you have solved the riddle. Hopefully Apple will re-think and fix this silly change

Same issues here. Need a workaround. This is affecting my business communication flow. The arbitrary character limit is just stupid.

Oddly enough. iPad and iMac isn’t affected by the limit... yet

I have text replacements set up under the character limit that still don’t work. Did they offer any other explanation?!

Text replacement was so helpful but now with the limit there is no use for it... i am so disappointed... I hope apple removes the chartecter limit

EVERYONE, how can we escalate this to apple so they remove the charecter limit?

Am I the only one that it’s NOT the character limit?! I have some text replacements that are well below even 50 characters and they still don’t work!!
